Harrington wins consecutive Open ChampionshipsSunday 7/20, 4:32 PM CT
Padraig Harrington held true to his career-changing performance of last season, earning his second consecutive Open Championship title today by shooting a final round of 69 (-1) at Royal Birkdale to take the oversized check and the new illustrious mantle piece.

Our View: Repeating as a major champion is as difficult as any task in sports, but doing it when the tourney is held on different courses is nothing short of astounding. Harrington had commited to making this run throughout his schedule this season, realizing he may have let last year's Open Championship get into his game and hampering his drive to repeat and earn respect as one of the best in the world. Today's victory will put him back in that rank and all but assures Harrington a place among the elite of the PGA today.
Norman falls short of dream at Open ChampionshipSunday 7/20, 4:28 PM CT
The hope of a miracle in the making reigned supreme coming into Sunday, but in the end the great Greg Norman could not hold on, shooting a frustrating 77 (+7) on Sunday to fall into a tie for 3rd place on the final leaderboard at Royal Birkdale in this season's Open Championship.

Our View: The ride was as entertaining as any at the major this season, but the fall on Sunday left many wishing for a better ending. We won't assert Norman as a player to watch, but if you enjoy watching the champions of old on the senior circuit, you'll find Norman there ripping the links before too long (stating he had entered the Open this week just to practice for those tourneys coming on that Tour).
Poulter finishes 2nd at the Open ChampionshipSunday 7/20, 4:23 PM CT
In one of his best performances in recent memory, Ian Poulter found comfort on the course of his homeland to shoot four of the best rounds of the week at the Open Championship, shooting an impressive 69 (-1) on Sunday to move seven spots up the final leaderboard and gain sole possession of 2nd place.

Our View: Poulter has struggled this season, rumored to be hampered by minor wrist issues. Today, he worked it as well as any golfer on the Tour and picked up his best check in months.
Furyk finishes in the hunt at the Open ChampionshipSunday 7/20, 4:20 PM CT
Picked as our favorite to win, Jim Furyk held us in respectable company by posting four of the top rounds of the week to finish at +10 at this week's Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, good for T5 on the final leaderboard.

Our View: Only one other golfer (Chris Wood, a European regular) matched Furyk for the final position, but we are a bit surprised he failed to get with the big boys. Furyk posted a score of 71 in three of the four rounds played, suffering through brutal winds to shoot 77 on Saturday. That one day cost him a substantial sum of money, but the finish should keep fantasy owners satisified as Furyk continues to prove his mettle on the courses of England.
Mickelson finishes T19 at Open ChampionshipSunday 7/20, 4:16 PM CT
Phil Mickelson once again fell off the pace early at a major championship, but this time around he finished strong with a score of 71 on Sunday (+1) to finish +14 (294) for the Open Championship, good for a spot at T19 on the final leaderboard.

Our View: Lefty's best work came on Saturday, shooting 68 (one of few round registered under par this week) to make the cut and stay in the hunt. The game is still there, but with Tiger out of the mix, we figured Phil would be the favorite to battle for these major championships. Thus far, he's disappointing fantasy owners in that aspect of his resume (though he still ranks as one of the top PGA golfers of this season with two victories thus far).
Allenby among top finishers at Open ChampionshipSunday 7/20, 4:12 PM CT
We expected he would fight for a win, but veteran duffer Robert Allenby came just a bit short of the top spot on the leaderboard, finishing as one of nine golfers tied at T7 with a score of +12 (292) at this week's Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Allenby shares that final spot with David Howell, Robert Karlsson, Ernie Els, Paul Casey, Stephen Ames, Steve Stricker, Anthony Kim, and Ben Curtis.

Our View: Allenby has been a force on the link-style courses throughout his career and he served fantasy owners well once again this week. Any time this major comes to the menu, you'll find Allenby in the mix for a trophy.
Kim's slight fall fails to hamper strong outing at the BritishSunday 7/20, 4:09 PM CT
Anthony Kim continues to keep fantasy owners in happy spirits despite a slight fall from his first three rounds of the week, posting a 75 (+5) on Sunday to finish at +12 for the Open Championhsip.

Our View: Kim has been a terror on the PGA circuit and happens to boast his best attributes in skill factors that fit well to the European game. His disappointing score on Sunday dropped him just two places, finishing at T7, on the final leaderboard. Kim has to be viewed as a worthy wager in nearly every tourney he hits from here on out. He's as young as can be but he's swinging with the seasoned veterans on any course that comes his way.
Scott shows promise to close at Open ChampionshipSunday 7/20, 4:02 PM CT
Adam Scott made a slight surge on the linkst of Royal Birkdale on Sunday, shooting 72 (+2) on the day to finish at +13 (293) for the tourney, good for T16 on the final leaderboard.

Our View: Scott has been a bit up and down this season but the work to finish on a positive note in the final round of a major shows why we believe he has at least one (if not more) big wins in his bag this season. If he had adjusted to the brutal wins on Saturday, he could have found a place in the top 10.
Choi faulters on Sunday at Open ChampionshipSunday 7/20, 4:02 PM CT
K.J. Choi was in the hunt for a major win coming into Sunday, but the end of the day in England brought disappointment and frustration as Choi finished with his worst round of the tourney (and one of his worst this season), finishing at +9 on the day to finish +13 (293) at this year's Open Championship.

Our View: Choi has found success on link-style courses in the past, but today he struggled with the accuracy off the tee and suffered a fall of 14 places on the final leaderboard as a result.
Euro-star Howell makes good on his home turfSunday 7/20, 4:01 PM CT
Posting one of few outstanding rounds on the week, David Howell finished the Royal Birkdale links in just 67 strokes, moving 57 total spots in the final leaderboard positions to finish T7 at the Open Championship with an overall score of +12 for the tourney.

Our View: Howell's best finish this season prior to the major: T2 at the Estoril Open de Portugal (not the best field to say the least). He's missed eight cuts in 17 starts this season, only one (the Arnold Palmer Invitational) coming on American soil. He can't be added to your fantasy radar just yet, but keep an eye on his schedule. With this performance, he may make a go of earning a living on the PGA Tour
Garcia falls short at Royal BirkdaleSunday 7/20, 4:00 PM CT
Sergio Garcia served as one of the largest disappointments on the course on Sunday, falling 36 spots in the final rankings at the Open Championship with 78 strokes (+8) on Sunday.

Our View: Garcia was considered a favorite by many to surprise, but in the end the putter failed him once more and his weakness throughout recent weeks continues to hamper his results. His final score was rising while most were going the other direction, and the fall will be reflected in next week's PGA and World Golf rankings.
