Sundin's agents to meet with LeafsFriday 9/5, 12:26 PM CT
Mats Sundin's agents will meet with Maple Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher on Friday, according to TSN. "Whatever happens to me, whether I'm not going to play tomorrow or whatever, I know Toronto's always the team in my heart," Sundin said.

Our View: Sources of TSN are also reporting that Sundin will speak with representatives of the Canadiens before he returns to Europe on Monday. The bottom line is that no resolution is at hand and this situation will continue to drag on.
Gagne should be fully healthyFriday 9/5, 12:23 PM CT
Simon Gagne will enter the 2008 season free of the concussion related symptoms that he dealt with last season if you ask HC John Stevens or GM Paul Holmgren, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View: Gagne was limited to just 25 games last season due to his concussion, and is looking to return to the level that saw him score 88 goals in 2005-06. If he can return to those scoring levels off the left wing, the Flyers will be in great shape. Still, until we see him take a hit on the ice we won't be sure about his status, so you will be taking a risk if you reach for Gagne early in your draft despite the upside.
Will Brodeur play less?Friday 9/5, 12:16 PM CT
Martin Brodeur is 36 years old and coming off a season in which he led the NHL in appearances with 77 games. The question is will his workload be cut in the coming season given the perception that he wore down late in the year, according to the Star Ledger.

Our View: The team would like to play Brodeur a bit less, but given his excellence each year, and the fact that the team doesn't have a bonafide backup to turn to, and we wouldn't bet against Brodeur having an 11th straight season of at least 70 games played. He remains the top option in net on draft day.
Bieksa could be trade chipFriday 9/5, 12:12 PM CT
Kevin Bieksa might be on the move as one of the lone pieces the team could move to add to a somewhat thin offensive ranks, according to the Vancouver Province.

Our View: The Canucks have nine defensemen under contract and seven who are one way deals. Toss in the fact that Willie Mitchell, Markus Ohlund and Sami Salo have no-trade clauses, and Bieksa could be on his way out of town. Bieksa is physical and possesses and upside on offense, and he could easily fill the number three D-man role this season in fantasy leagues in the right role.
O'Neill hoping to latch onFriday 9/5, 12:07 PM CT
Jeff O'Neill will have an uphill battle to make the Hurricanes team as a free agent on a tryout, according to the Charlotte News Observer.

Our View: O'Neil has been practicing with some of the players on the club in preparation for the clubs official training camp. O'Neil will have to overcome the fact that he sat out last season as well as the fact that the club already has a strong threesome at the RW position in Justin Williams, Scott Walker and Patrick Eaves in order to make the club.
Hamilton searching for right fitFriday 9/5, 12:00 PM CT
Jeff Hamilton is a free agent in search of a club, according to Hockey Buzz. Atlanta, Buffalo, Nashville and Washington are said to be interested in his services.

Our View: The speedy forward doesn't do much on the defensive side of the puck, but he has the hands of a sniper and could provide offense if given the right role, especially when you consider that he has scored 27 times in his last 128 games.
Parrish still looking for teamFriday 9/5, 11:55 AM CT
Mark Parrish is still without a contract after being bought out of the final three years of his deal by the Minnesota Wild this off-season, according the Pioneer Press. "There's no doubt in my mind that I still have a lot of hockey left to play," he said.

Our View: Parrish, a 31 year old who has been a 20-goal scorer six times, failed to live up to expectations the past two years in Minnesota as he often clashed with HC Jacques Lemaire. Still, he scored 19 and 16 times the past two years and figures to still be quite capable of producing another 20-goal campaign in the right spot. Keep an eye on where he lands.
O'Sullivan still unsigned Friday 9/5, 11:50 AM CT
With the signing of Jaret Stoll, Patrick O'Sullivan becomes the team's top priority as he is still without a contract, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Our View: In just just second season in the league, Patrick played in every game while racking up 22 goals and 53 points. He is expected to be the teams left winger on the top scoring line, and with about the team needing to spend $3 million more dollars to reach the NHL minimum of a $40 million deal, look for O'Sullivan to sign a lucrative multi-year deal with the club in the near future.
Stoll signs 4-year dealFriday 9/5, 11:45 AM CT
Jarrett Stoll has agreed to a 4-year, $14.4 million deal as a new member of the Los Angeles Kings, according to TSN.

Our View: Stoll, who recorded 14 goals and 36 points last year in Edmonton, is being looked upon to far surpass those totals this year with the Kings. In fact, given the amount of ice time he is likely to be showered with, a 25-goal season certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility for a guy who scored 22 times in 2005.
Blake looking forward to new seasonFriday 9/5, 9:17 AM CT
Rob Blake is looking forward to the 2008-09 campaign, his first as a member of the Sharks, according to the Mercury News.

Our View: The 38-year-old realizes that his age will be questioned, but he feels no different than he ever did in his career, which spans 18 seasons. Blake could bounce back from a forgettable 2007 campaign, and be productive enough to serve as a No. 4 fantasy defenseman.
Bogosian contract update Friday 9/5, 9:12 AM CT
Zach Bogosian's new three-year deal is reportedly worth $2.625 million, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The 18-year-old defenseman said, "I’m really happy to be a Thrasher now. It’s kind of a relief that you get it done, but you know you’ve still got to do the work to earn it."

Our View: Bogosian should be scooped up in keeper leagues, and has a good shot to make the team and contribute a bit this season as a rookie.
