Steven Stamkos, the pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, will not skate for Canada's World Junior developmental camp next week as he will instead skate with the Lightnings rookies at the clubs developmental camp, according to TSN.
Our View: Stamkos is looking to prove to the Bolts brass that he is fully capable of being an NHL contributor in his rookie season at 18 years old, and apparently this is the best way for him to do just that. |

Ryan Shannon was one of six Canucks players who officially agreed to contracts on Wednesday, according to TSN. The others were: Rick Rypien, Mike Brown, Nathan McIver, Zach Fitzgerald and James Sharrow.
Our View: None of these players represents much in terms of fantasy value which is one of the reasons all six are being listed in just one player report. Shannon is the biggest name in the group, but he was limited to just 13 points in 27 games last season. |

Mats Sundin will apparently make the final decision on his future and whether or not that future will include another season in the NHL on August 1st, according to TSN.
Our View: The Canucks are the leaders in terms of dollars, but the Leafs and the Canadiens are also still in the hunt. It appears he will return for at least one more season and that he will play for a team that calls Canada home. |

The Bruins have placed Glen Murray on waivers, according to TSN.
Our View: The 35-year-old forward had trouble staying healthy in 2007-08, and contributed 17 goals and 13 assists over 63 games, with 50 penalty minutes. Two of his goals were game-winners. Murray can be traded or bought out, or they may simply hold on to him if he clears waivers.

The Sabres are hoping to bring back Teppo Numminen, who missed almost all of last season after undergoing open heart surgery, according to the Buffalo News.
Our View: He stated that he would like to play another season, and the team would like to retain his services. The defenseman could hold decent fantasy value, namely in leagues that reward points for penalty minutes, but he will remain a health risk. |

Martin Rucinsky has left the Blues and the NHL to play for the Czech team Sparta Prague, according to the AP. It is known that the 37-year-old inked a one-year deal, but financial details were not disclosed.
Our View: Rucinsky suffered through an injury riddled 2007-08 campaign with St. Louis, as he only chipped in five goals and 11 assists over 40 games. At his age, his career in the NHL is likely over. |
