Sully still soreSaturday 7/19, 10:05 AM CT
The Toronto Sun reports that Steve Sullivan's back problems. which forced him to miss the entire 2007-08 National Hockey League season, are still prominent enough to keep him from anything athletic.

Our View: Anytime a back injury remains this serious over a year, you have to believe the end is near. Sully notched 60 points in 57 games during the 2006-07 season.
Nielsen re-signs with IslandersSaturday 7/19, 9:57 AM CT
Frans Nielsen reached agreement with the Islanders Friday night on a four-year contract worth $2.1 million according to Newsday.

Our View: The deal essentially guarantees Nielsen a spot on the NHL roster. Nielsen is considered a very smart player, and he could bring value to a fantasy squad down the line. In 102 AHL games, Nielsen totaled 30 goals and 52 assists for 82 points.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune reports that Stephane Veilleux was not claimed off of waivers as he previously had thought he would be.

Our View: Veilleux will not be happy with this latest development. He must now negotiate a new contract, or go with the team to arbitration. Either way, he may have a disgruntled approach to the season ahead.

Despite his suspension, Alexander Radulov practiced with his Russian club on Friday according to the Nashville Tennessean.

Our View: Radulov, 22, signed a three-year deal with Salavat Yulaev earlier this month despite having one year remaining on his NHL contract. It appears more and more unlikely that he will play with the Predators next season.

Center Jeff Halpern, who had major surgery on his right knee in June, could be out until January according to the Florida Sun-Sentinel.
