Sweed will playThursday 10/16, 11:50 PM CT
Limas Sweed may finally see some action on the field this week, in just the second game he'll be dressed for, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said Sweed needs to just do the simple things to succeed, telling the paper, "I wish he'd quit trying to score touchdowns on out cuts. Just drag the feet and get out of bounds. Those are the type of balls he's dropped."

Our View: Sweed dressed for the team's game with Jacksonville, but did not set foot on the field. A second-round pick this year, Sweed still has miles to go before fantasy owners need to know his name.
Moore will start if Parker can'tThursday 10/16, 11:46 PM CT
Mewelde Moore will get the start at running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers if Willie Parker is unable to play, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View: Though Moore would start, Najeh Davenport and Gary Russell would also see carries. Moore would still be a decent play, considering the opponent is Cincinnati, who allow 156.8 rushing yards per game.
Morris likely to see number of carriesThursday 10/16, 11:13 PM CT
Patriots running back Sammy Morris will probably see plenty of action Week 7 because Laurence Maroney and LaMont Jordan will probably be out, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View: Morris has three rushing touchdowns, but also just 169 yards and a 3.2 average. New England will face Denver on Sunday, who have the 26th-ranked run defense, making Morris a solid play.
McCargo to be released?Thursday 10/16, 10:25 PM CT
Bills defensive tackle John McCargo is probably going to be released by the team, according to John Clayton of ESPN.com.

Our View: McCargo, a first-round bust, was traded to the Colts, but failed his physical, so he's right back where he started, and nobody seems too happy about it.
Hurd put on IRThursday 10/16, 9:20 PM CT
Cowboys wideout Sam Hurd was put on injured reserve after surgery on his ankle, ending his season, according to the AP.

Our View: Hurd was expected to be the team's third wideout, but he failed to catch even one pass after spraining his ankle in the preseason and struggling with that the whole year.
Davis developingThursday 10/16, 8:44 PM CT
49ers tight end Vernon Davis has made great strides in the team's offense, according to 49ers.com. "He’s progressed so much since the beginning of the season. It’s really exciting. It hasn’t manifested itself in catches necessarily, but we can see it,” said 49ers offensive coordinator Mike Martz.

Our View: Davis has 11 catches for 162 yards this season, much to the disappointment of fantasy owners. With Martz having more confidence in him, maybe he'll see a rise in production.
Royal likely to playThursday 10/16, 8:30 PM CT
Broncos rookie wideout Eddie Royal (left foot) practiced on Thursday, and will likely be able to suit up on Sunday, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "The rehab's coming along good. So I'm feeling real confident about it," Royal said.

Our View: Royal will likely start next to fellow receiver Brandon Marshall against the Patriots on Sunday.
Wallace takes more snapsThursday 10/16, 8:22 PM CT
Seneca Wallace took reps with the first-team offense on Thursday after limited work on Wednesday, making it likely he'll start for Seattle in their Week 7 contest, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: Wallace was dealing with a calf injury, and he'll make the start for the Seahawks barring any setback to his malady.
Vanden Bosch practicesThursday 10/16, 8:20 PM CT
Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch participated in the team's practice on Thursday, and it is possible he will play Week 7, according to the AP.

Our View: Vanden Bosch is nursing a sore groin, and he did not practice on Wednesday, so his participation Thursday is a good sign.
Reed does not practiceThursday 10/16, 7:49 PM CT
Ravens safety Ed Reed did not practice with the team on Thursday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: Reed has an injured hamstring, and his availability for the team's game Sunday against Miami is unknown.
Robinson impressingThursday 10/16, 7:20 PM CT
Texans cornerback Dunta Robinson has been impressing the team so far in his limited practice time, according to HoustonTexans.com.

Our View: Robinson just came off the PUP list. He may be ready to play on Sunday, though the team will be required to release someone in order to make room for Robinson on the roster.
Willis to startThursday 10/16, 7:17 PM CT
Ray Willis will likely start at right tackle in place of Sean Locklear, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune.

Our View: The team is simply pleased with the way Willis has played. He initially got the chance with Locklear was out with injury.
Burgess does not practiceThursday 10/16, 7:07 PM CT
Derrick Burgess did not practice with the Raiders, and it is unlikely he will play Week 7 against the Jets, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: Burgess has a partially torn triceps muscle, and will likely be out for more than just this game, but he was attempting to play despite that.
Walker may lose starting gigThursday 10/16, 7:05 PM CT
It is possible that Javon Walker will not remain a starting wideout for the Oakland Raiders, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: As most people who knew what they were talking about predicted, Walker has been a huge disappointment in Oakland after they threw an absurd contract at him. He has a measly five catches for 59 yards and no touchdowns.
Schilens will see increased timeThursday 10/16, 7:02 PM CT
Raiders rookie wideout, seventh-round pick Chaz Schilens, will have a prominent role on the team this week, according to the Contra Costa Times. “You’re going to see Schilens is more involved this week,” Raiders coach Tom Cable said.

Our View: Schilens has three catches for 38 yards this year. Fantasy owners in very deep leagues may want to give him a look, but the fact is JaMarcus Russell will need to improve for any of the Oakland receivers to be fantasy-relevant.
Huff demotedThursday 10/16, 6:59 PM CT
Michael Huff was demoted to backup status, as he will no longer be the starting free safety, according to the Contra Costa Times. Hiram Eugene will be the starter.

Our View: Huff has not played well, and is looking like a big-time bust after being a top-ten pick in 2006. He has no interceptions and 12 tackles so far this year.
Caldwell could return kicksThursday 10/16, 6:48 PM CT
It is possible that Bengals third-round draft pick, wideout Andre Caldwell, could play in his first game and be the team's kick returner, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: The team's regular returner, Glenn Holt, has an injured ankle, which is why the kick returning duties would go to Caldwell. He would remain unworthy of fantasy consideration even if he does play.
Law interested in Dallas, Green BayThursday 10/16, 6:35 PM CT
Cornerback Ty Law would be interested in joining either the Green Bay Packers or Dallas Cowboys because they have banged-up secondaries and he thinks he could help, according to NFL.com. “I can walk in now and play on Sunday,” Law said.

Our View: The Packers are getting healthier, so they do not have as big a need for a corner as the Cowboys do. It would not be a shock if Jerry Jones brings the veteran in, but nothing seems to be on the horizon.
Bulger throws wellThursday 10/16, 6:17 PM CT
Rams quarterback Marc Bulger threw the ball well in practice on Thursday, despite an injured index finger, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “It’s black and blue and puffed up. But he’s a tough guy,” Rams coach Jim Haslett said.

Our View: Bulger got his finger jammed in the team's win at Washington. He actually may not be a bad play this week, due to the Cowboys relatively lackluster pass defense (23th in NFL), and the influx of young players Dallas will have to play due to Terence Newman's injured groin and Pacman Jones' suspension.
Young angry with mediaThursday 10/16, 5:26 PM CT
Titans quarterback Vince Young is upset with the media, saying they are misrepresenting him, according to ESPN.com. "I'm a great guy, a great humble guy. I've done a whole lot in my career in just three years and for [the media] to do stuff like that to try to make me look bad for some reason - I don't know why - but they're just writing my legacy," Young said.

Our View: Talking about how great you are and how much you've accomplished in three years isn't exactly the definition of humble. Either way, Young is still hurt, and Kerry Collins will remain Tennessee's quarterback - in part due to health, and in part because he's more effective.
Kiffin to file grievanceThursday 10/16, 5:19 PM CT
Former Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin will file a grievance against the organization in order to get his full salary for the season, according to ESPN.

Our View: As most know, Raiders owner Al Davis said he will not pay the remainder of Kiffin's contract because he was fired "with cause."
Fins sign PoliteThursday 10/16, 5:16 PM CT
The Miami Dolphins have signed fullback Lousaka Polite, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View: Casey Cramer has a sprained ankle, so Polite gets the call. The team waived Kirk Barton to make room on the roster.
Hali a bust?Thursday 10/16, 5:10 PM CT
Chiefs defensive end Tamba Hali has played poorly for the team this year, and has declined to the point where the organization is fearful that he will be a bust, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: Hali had eight sacks his rookie year, 7.5 last year, but does not have any this season, and the entire team has an embarrassing three all year. It seems far-fetched to call him a bust, but that is apparently the thinking.
Taylor to remain starterThursday 10/16, 5:02 PM CT
Fred Taylor will remain the starter at running back for the Jaguars, despite the fact he has suffered two concussions this year, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: Many people, including fantasy owner, would like to see Maurice Jones-Drew get more carries. Neither of them will get a carry this week though, as Jacksonville is on a bye.
Crable may see more playing timeThursday 10/16, 4:56 PM CT
Patriots rookie linebacker Shawn Crable may get more time on the field in order to beef up the team's awful pass rush, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: New England has seven sacks, which is the third-fewest in the NFL. Crable could be utilized specifically on passing downs to rush the quarterback.
Allen ready to hit fieldThursday 10/16, 4:49 PM CT
Former first-round pick, cornerback Jason Allen, may see some time on defense for Miami Sunday, instead of just special teams, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Our View: The Dolphins are bad on pass defense (29th), and Allen certainly has the talent to help out. He made the switch from safety to corner this year, which was part of the reason he has not seem much action.
Phillips to keep starter secretThursday 10/16, 4:43 PM CT
There is a chance that Tony Romo will play Week 7, and Dallas head coach Wade Phillips said he will make up his mind before Sunday, but would not announce his decision until just before game-time, according to the Dallas Morning News. "I'm not telling anybody," Phillips said.

Our View: Doesn't he know fantasy players have to set their lineups and need to know as soon as possible? Even if Romo does play, there is no telling how long he may last with the injured pinkie.
Pace out againThursday 10/16, 4:20 PM CT
Rams offensive tackle Orlando Pace did not practice on Thursday and is still questionable to play against Dallas, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View: Pace is dealing with a strained thigh muscle, which he injured Week 6 against the Redskins. If he misses the game, Adam Goldberg will take his spot.
Springs hurts calfThursday 10/16, 4:11 PM CT
Redskins corner Shawn Springs injured his calf in practice on Thursday, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: The injury was called a "tweak", and Springs is to be looked at on Friday to see the extent of the injury.
Calvin Johnson returns to practiceThursday 10/16, 3:54 PM CT
Calvin Johnson returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday due to a concussion, according to the Lions' website.

Our View: With Roy Williams moving on to Dallas, expect Johnson to get targeted more than ever. He is one of the best receivers in the game and will be heavily relied on by new starter Dan Orlovsky.
Green returns to practiceThursday 10/16, 3:50 PM CT
Ahman Green was a full participant in Thursday's practice according to the Texans' website. He is dealing with a foot injury.

Our View: Green is the No. 2 running back on Houston's depth chart and will likely 10 carries or less per game unless something happens to Steve Slaton.
Marshall focused on footballThursday 10/16, 3:47 PM CT
The Denver Post reports that for his press conference Thursday, Brandon Marshall came out holding a football tucked to his side. After making critical fumbles in the Broncos' two losses this year, Marshall was letting everyone know he's seriously trying to correct the problem.

Our View: At least the much-maligned Marshall is taking his job seriously at the moment. Marshall has 43 receptions in five games but has yet to come close to his 18 catch performance in Week 2.
O'Hara will be ready to goThursday 10/16, 3:42 PM CT
Shaun O'Hara was a full participant in practice on the same day that he was released from the hospital. O'Hara had been in the hospital four two days according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: It appears that the center will be good to go on Sunday which is good news for the Giants.
Bryant dealing with injuryThursday 10/16, 3:29 PM CT
Matt Bryant was limited in Thursday's practice due to a sore hamstring, according to the Tampa Tribune. He may be questionable for Sunday's game against Seattle.

Our View: If you have another option at kicker, it's probably time to use him. Bryant missed his first field goal of the season on Sunday. It was his only attempt this season from 50 yards or longer.
Branch is doubtful for SundayThursday 10/16, 3:25 PM CT
The News Tribune reports that wideout Deion Branch missed two straight practices and is very unlikely to play against the Bucs on Sunday night, meaning that Keary Colbert is going to have an increased role, and perhaps Billy McMullen.

Our View: Branch has a bruised heal and it is uncertain when Branch will continue playing in his injury-riddled season.
Kolby Smith will start on SundayThursday 10/16, 3:19 PM CT
The Kansas City Star reports that Kolby Smith will start Sunday against the Titans. Larry Johnson will not be active due to missed meetings and other team obligations.

Our View: Smith filled in admirably for Johnson when he was injured last season but don't expect much from him against on of the toughest defenses in the league. Jamaal Charles also figures to get a fair share of carries for the Chiefs.
Smoot is doubtful for SundayThursday 10/16, 3:16 PM CT
Cornerback Fred Smoot is being called doubtful for Sunday's game due to a groin injury.

Our View: Smoot is an excellent cornerback but the 'Skins should be ok if the less-dinged up Shawn Springs (calf) and Carlos Rogers (calf) can go.
Portis will continue to miss practiceThursday 10/16, 3:13 PM CT
The Washington Post reports that Clinton Portis will likely not practice untilSaturday's walk through due to a sore hip flexor.

Our View: Hip flexor's don't tend to heal vary fast so Portis owners should have a backup plan in the case that Portis has to shut it down for a week or two. As of now, he should start on Sunday.
Smith's shoulder is "fine"Thursday 10/16, 2:59 PM CT
The Detroit Free Press reports that Lions offensive coordinator Jim Colletto said running back Kevin Smith's shoulder is “fine.”

Our View: Smith injured the shoulder in his last game and was unable to practice on Wednesday. His status for Sunday is uncertain.
Dolphins talking to Ty LawThursday 10/16, 2:55 PM CT
The Sun-Sentinel reports that the Dolphins have reached out to representatives for veteran free agent cornerback Ty Law , to discuss a workout for the five-time Pro Bowl selection, according to a source. Law, 34, hasn't played in the NFL this season, after starting 16 games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007. Law visited with the Jets during the offseason, and had phone conversations with the Patriots and Cleveland Browns. In July, he said that he had contract offers, but was waiting for the right opportunity. The Dolphins are thin at the position, and allowed Texans quarterback Matt Schaub to throw for 378 yards in Sunday's 29-28 loss to Houston. Andre' Goodman did not practice Thursday due to what coach Tony Sparano called "a personal emergency," and Michael Lehan worked in his starting spot. Will Allen, who has been bothered by a sore knee, did practice.

Our View: The South Florida resident has 52 career interceptions, including 10 for the New York Jets, but is best known for his 10 seasons with the New England Patriots. The Dolphins need a safety and Law is likely the best on the market. He could have some sleeper IDP value down the stretch if he is signed.
Tapeh releasedThursday 10/16, 2:52 PM CT
Fullback Thomas Tapeh has been released by the Vikings according to the Star-Tribune.

Our View: Tapeh had no carries this season and has no fantasy value.
Foster replaces CherilusThursday 10/16, 2:50 PM CT
Tackle George Foster will permanently replace rookie Gosder Cherilus in the starting lineup, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View: Foster started the first two games of the season and has been benched five times in two years.
Cherilus benchedThursday 10/16, 2:48 PM CT
The Detroit Free Press reports that first-round pick Gosder Cherilus will be permanently replaced in the starting lineup by George Foster on Sunday at Houston. He started the past three games, had trouble with blocking assignments and was benched after the first half. “It happened in the first play of the game. The guy ran right over him,” offensive coordinator Jim Colletto said. “He’s got to get used to the level and the tempo of the guys he’s playing against every week. It’s different than college. You don’t line up (Minnesota defensive end) Jared Allens on you every time. He’s got to understand that every Sunday in this league, there’s somebody pretty good lined up on you. That’ll come with experience.”

Our View: This sounds about right. Another Detroit draft pick on the verge of busting.
Smith will return this weekThursday 10/16, 2:30 PM CT
Safety Eric Smith will return from his suspension as a starter, replacing Abram Elam, who played very well last week, according to Newsday.

Our View: Smith is a very good safety but has managed just 18 tackles a one interception this season.
Leonard will make second startThursday 10/16, 2:27 PM CT
The Browns website reports that Louis Leonard will get his second straight start at right defensive end. "Leonard came in and he tried hard," coach Romeo Crennel said. "Louis has some strength; he will flash for you. With more reps he'll get better as he goes down the line."

Our View: Leonard is irrelevant in fantasy leagues.
Browns' safety returnsThursday 10/16, 2:25 PM CT
Safety Sean Jones was a full participant in Wednesday's practice for the first time in five weeks as he tries to come back from arthroscopic knee surgery, according to the team's website. Coach Romeo Crennel said he hopes Jones will play Sunday.

Our View: The Browns defense has played above expectations this season and the return of Jones should further improve their efforts this season.
Roby added to Saints rosterThursday 10/16, 2:14 PM CT
Receiver/return specialist Courtney Roby was added to the Saints roster on Thursday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View: Roby, 25, was originally a third-round draft pick out of Indiana in 2005. He appeared in 25 games with the Tennessee Titans between 2005-06, catching 23 passes for 317 yards and one touchdown. But he has only appeared in one NFL game since then, with Indianapolis earlier this year on special teams. He does not have any fantasy value.
Ryan is released by SaintsThursday 10/16, 2:12 PM CT
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the Saints released backup tight end Sean Ryan on Thursday, which could be a sign that Jeremy Shockey's return is imminent. He was replaced on the roster by receiver/return specialist Courtney Roby.

Our View: Ryan had two catches in two games for seven yards this season.
Bush sits out team drillsThursday 10/16, 2:08 PM CT
Tailback Reggie Bush did not participate in team drills again on Thursday because of swelling and soreness in his left knee, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. But he was involved in individual drills, and he and coach Sean Payton have continued to describe his inactivity as a precaution. It still appears as though he will play Sunday at Carolina. Bush has been dealing with occasional swelling since training camp, when he missed a handful of practices, and Payton said he aggravated the condition with a specific injury in Week 1 against Tampa Bay.

Our View: Obviously Bush has managed to play well, with great speed and explosiveness throughout the year, but it's been a long six-week stretch. Payton said he'll probably be fighting through it until the bye week in two weeks.
Colston is limited in practiceThursday 10/16, 2:06 PM CT
Receiver Marques Colston (thumb) appears on track to return to the lineup Sunday. Colston participated in team drills on a limited basis Thursday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View: We expect Colston to play this week, but he appeared ready to go last week as well before sitting out Sunday's game.
Orlovsky will get more repsThursday 10/16, 2:01 PM CT
MLive.com reports that Dan Orlovsky will take 80 percent of the reps in practice with Drew Stanton taking the rest. Last week, Orlovsky and Drew Stanton were splitting reps and, on Monday, head coach Rod Marinelli said they would likely continue to split them.

Our View: Orlovsky has posted a 59.3 quarterback rating this season and there's no reason to expect him to emerge as a valuable fantasy commodity.
Rodgers participates in practiceThursday 10/16, 1:50 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that quarterback Aaron Rodgers (right shoulder) threw in several different drills in practice for the first time in weeks. It was apparent he wasn't doing what he normally would do in a practice but he looked to have good zip on the ball and didn't seem to be wincing in pain.

Our View: Rodgers has played well throughout the injury and remains one of the top quarterback options this season. He is carrying a 98.0 quarterback rating.
Charles may start SundayThursday 10/16, 1:47 PM CT
With Larry Johnson not playing on Sunday, running back Jamaal Charles has a good chance to start against the Titans on Sunday.

Our View: Charles has 21 carries for 98 yards this season to go with 12 catches and 68 yards. However, don't expect a big performance on Sunday as the Titans have one of the best defenses in the league. The other option would be Kolby Smith.
Addai has not been ruled outThursday 10/16, 1:44 PM CT
The Indianapolis Star reports that running back Joseph Addai has not been ruled out for Sunday's game. "When we get to the end of the week, there might even be some thoughts to play him (Sunday), but we've got a lot of time left in this season," coach Tony Dungy said. "Rather than rush him back too quick, my sense is we'll go with these three guys."

Our View: Dominic Rhodes will start and get the majority of the carries even if Addai is ready. Yesterday we were told he would miss two to four weeks so this news seems promising.
Johnson is reaping what he's sewnThursday 10/16, 1:39 PM CT
Chad Johnson is feeling snubbed according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I think (the trade demand) might be part of why my production is down this year," said Ocho Cinco, who has just 19 receptions and one touchdown for the 0-6 Bengals. "To rant and rave in the offseason like that and to come back and expect to be productive or expect them to use me the same way they used me in the past is very unlikely. That's like me talking about you guys in a negative way and then me expecting you all to be my No. 1 fan. I made my bed. I have to lay in it."

Our View: Johnson's certainly been a disappointment this season but we have not heard much about his injured shoulder or surgically repaired ankle which is one good sign. Johnson almost has to be more productive in the second half of the season than he has been in the first.
L.J. ruled out for Week 7Thursday 10/16, 1:25 PM CT
The Kansas City Star reports that Larry Johnson will not play Sunday against the Titans in Kansas City. Johnson was charged with assault earlier in the week.

Our View: It is not clear if this is a result of a suspension or an injury. We will keep you updated as more news becomes available.
Bigby returns to practiceThursday 10/16, 1:18 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Atari Bigby made his return Thursday after sitting out 4 1/2 weeks with a hamstring injury and looked to be running well. Bigby took his run test Wednesday and apparently passed with no problem. He practiced with no hesitation.

Our View: Bigby is an excellent safety and the Packers defense will certainly benefit from his return. He should be able to go on Sunday.
Clowney is making progressThursday 10/16, 1:15 PM CT
David Clowney (broken collar bone) has resumed practicing on a limited basis according to the Newark Star-Ledger. "With his type of injury, it's not just the the running around and cutting, but it's also getting more involved in contact," coach Eric Mangini said. "Making sure that everything is where it needs to be in terms of the healing process. So I think he's making strides. But we're going to go through the full amount of time to make sure that it's where he needs to be."

Our View: Clowney could add a legitimate deep threat with his speed, however Brett Favre has targeted Jerricho Cotchery and Coles nearly 75 percent of the time in recent games.
Galloway will be available SundayThursday 10/16, 1:11 PM CT
The Tampa Tribune reports that Joey Galloway (sprained foot) practiced again on Thursday and is expected to be available in Sunday's home game against Seattle.

Our View: It's unclear how big a role he will play at this point. The 36-year-old receiver has not played since Week 2 when he registered just two catches.
Gonzalez turned down deal to BuffaloThursday 10/16, 12:54 PM CT
NFL.com reports that Tony Gonzalez could have been traded to the Bills but would not approve of the trade.

Our View: Gonzalez has been very vocal about his disappointment in not being traded but this report makes him look a bit like a hypocrite.
Owner calls Romo's chances promising Thursday 10/16, 12:51 PM CT
Owner Jerry Jones called Tony Romo's chances of playing against the Rams this Sunday "promising" according to the Dallas Morning News. Tight end Jason Witten and right guard Leonard "Bigg" Davis said they're preparing as if Brad Johnson will start but know Romo will try to talk his way onto the field. Romo returned to practice on Thursday. Johnson took the reps with the starters during the media access portion of practice. The limited snaps that Romo got were all out of the shotgun. It appeared that more of Romo's passes fluttered than normal.

Our View: Romo wants to play but he has also been warned of the danger of furthering the injury which would possibly keep him out for the season. At this point, he is an unreliable start for this weekend. The addition of Roy Williams figures to make him even more dangerous than he already was.
Cowboys sign LB PolkThursday 10/16, 12:42 PM CT
The Dallas Morning News reports that Carlos Polk, who played for Wade Phillips in San Diego, is now a Cowboy. He takes the roster spot of wide receiver Sam Hurd, who was put on injured reserve after undergoing ankle surgery.

Our View: The eight-year veteran was a special teams standout for the Chargers. He led San Diego in special teams tackles before suffering a season-ending shoulder surgery.
Rogers will try and slow Edwards downThursday 10/16, 12:40 PM CT
Braylon Edwards will be guarded by Carlos Rogers rather than Shawn Springs on Sunday due to Rogers' quality play in recent games, according to the Washington Post.

Our View: Edwards doubled his season's production in last Monday's game against the Giants when he caught five passes for 154 yards and one touchdown. Rogers should be able to prevent that kind of big game from happening again.
Taylor will be on the field moreThursday 10/16, 12:32 PM CT
Jason Taylor played more than anyone anticipated last week and is scheduled for more work in this game. Taylor is playing with a pad on the calf where he had surgery, and was not very effective last week, but is finally able to practice regularly now.

Our View: He'll probably split snaps with Demetric Evans this week and should be a good IDP player in the second half of the season.
Redding may play more defensive endThursday 10/16, 12:30 PM CT
MLive.com reports that the Lions are once again experimenting with using tackle Cory Redding at left defensive end.

Our View: No matter where Redding lines up, he is not likely to have any value in IDP leagues.
Perry returns to practiceThursday 10/16, 12:26 PM CT
Bengals.com reports that Chris Perry (shoulder) returned to practice on Thursday after missing all of Wednesday's workout.

Our View: Perry is averaging a mere 2.6 yards per carry this season and has struggled with fumbles. Cedric Benson appears to be moving in on his job.
Housh is limited in practice againThursday 10/16, 12:24 PM CT
T.J. Houshmandzadeh participated in only the stretching portion of Thursday's practice, according to Bengals.com. Housh tweaked his ankle last Sunday, but he was able to return to that game.

Our View: The Bengals are likely just being cautious. T.J. is expected to play in Week 7.
Winslow back with teamThursday 10/16, 11:58 AM CT
Kellen Winslow Jr has rejoined his teammates on Thursday though he has still not received permission to return to practice, according to the Associated Press. HC Romeo Crennel is hopeful that Winslow will be able to practice on Friday and play on Sunday.

Our View: Winslow had been hospitalized due to an issue with his testicles but it appears that he is doing much better now. He may still end up being a game-time decision, but if he suits up on Friday you can feel pretty good about his potential to play this weekend.
Romo risks season-ending surgery if he playsThursday 10/16, 11:41 AM CT
NFL.com reports that Tony Romo has been told that if he plays, and if he aggravates his pinkie injury, it could become a displaced fracture. And if his pinkie becomes a displaced fracture, then the 4- to 5-week time frame which Romo is expected to miss would become more prolonged. With a displaced fracture, Romo would face season-ending surgery.

Our View: Romo wants to play but there is certainly some risk tied to that venture. At this point, he is an unreliable play for this weekend. The addition of Roy Williams figures to make him even more dangerous than he already was.
Austin should return kicksThursday 10/16, 11:27 AM CT
With Felix Jones out, the Dallas Morning News reports that wideout Miles Austin will become the team's primary kick returner.

Our View: Austin figures to play less of a role in the team's passing game with the arrival of Roy Williams. His value has dropped since the acquisition.
Edwards returns to practiceThursday 10/16, 11:16 AM CT
Donnie Edwards returned to practice Wednesday after missing the last two weeks because of an ankle injury, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: On a rebuilding team, the veteran may see less playing time going forward as the coaching staff looks to develop younger linebackers.
Douglas to see expanded roleThursday 10/16, 11:12 AM CT
Pro Football Weekly reports that rookie wide receiver Harry Douglas will get more looks as a punt returner and he’s being groomed to eventually take over full time. Douglas has made his mark as a receiver and ballcarrier on reverse plays this season, but scouts envisioned him as a punt returner, as well, when he left Louisville.

Our View: Douglas has 11 catches for 148 yards this season and five carries for 39 yards. For those of you who count yardage and return touchdowns, you will need to keep an eye on his performance as he could play a big role for the Falcons' down the stretch.
Herring hopes to play SundayThursday 10/16, 10:50 AM CT
Linebacker Will Herring is hoping to be activated from the PUP list and play this Sunday, according to the Post-Intelligencer. Herring has missed the first six weeks of the season after sitting out most of training camp while recovering from knee surgery and joint inflammation.

Our View: Herring does not figure to play a major role on defense and does not warrant consideration in IDP leagues.
O'Hara released from hospitalThursday 10/16, 10:46 AM CT
The Bergen Record reports that center Shaun O'Hara is expected to be released from the hospital on Thursday morning. He had to undergo surgery on his infected toe.

Our View: His status for this week remains uncertain and his absence could factor into Eli Manning's protection.
Harris returns to practiceThursday 10/16, 10:44 AM CT
Al Harris was a participant in practice for the first time since suffering a lacerated spleen in the September 21 game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. An injury that was thought to be season-ending - if not career-ending for the 33-year-old - is healed to the point that Harris could do individual drills that included running and catching passes.

Our View: Harris is unlikely to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. With the bye week to follow, Harris would have three more weeks to rest. He is a big part of the Packers successful defense.
Vasher is limited in practiceThursday 10/16, 10:38 AM CT
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that cornerback Nathan Vasher was limited in practice on Wednesday. He is recovering from a wrist injury and Corey Graham has played well in his place.

Our View: Vasher did not play in Sunday's loss to Atlanta. That makes two weeks in a row he has vowed to play and then didn't dress on Sunday.
Tillman loses slingThursday 10/16, 10:35 AM CT
Charles Tillman did not practice on Wednesday but was at practice without the sling he had been carrying his arm in recently. He has not been ruled out for Sunday.

Our View: Several members of the Bears defense is out and they may not look like their normal dominant selves this Sunday against the Vikings. Tillman has been one of the most productive IDP players. He has 36 tackles (34 solo), two forced fumbles, two interceptions and a touchdown this season.
LaBoy should be able to go in Week 8Thursday 10/16, 10:09 AM CT
The East Valley Tribune reports that linebacker Travis LaBoy (strained groin muscle) did some light work on the side during Wednesday's practice, but Whisenhunt was confident LaBoy will be fine after the team's Week 7 bye.

Our View: Laboy has 20 tackles (16 solo) with four sacks and a fum recovery this season. He has been a productive player in IDP leagues but it's optimistic to be counting on a sack per game from the linebacker.
Taylor suffered concussionThursday 10/16, 10:05 AM CT
The Florida Times-Union reports that Fred Taylor suffered another concussion in last Sunday's game. He has been fitted with a new, bulkier helmet that should prevent the injury from recurring. "I'm fine, man. If you don't suffer a slight concussion playing football, you're doing something wrong," Taylor jokingly said. He did not practice on Wednesday.

Our View: That marks his second concussion of the season and although he will likely play at full strength on Sunday, you have to think that another concussion might cause him to be more cautious.
Kitna will rehab away from LionsThursday 10/16, 9:57 AM CT
Jon Kitna said Wednesday the Lions wanted to replace him as their starting quarterback and used his back injury as a reason to make the change, according to the Detroit Free Press. Kitna said he would not rehab at Lions headquarters. "I just think with how things are and the tension that had existed all year in the building in terms of my position and things like that, I think it was just best for both parties that we do it outside the building," Kitna said.

Our View: Kitna is clearly unhappy with the Lions right now as he was recently placed on IR due to a bulging disc in his lower back. Kitna did not feel the move was necessary but rather an excuse for the team to switch quarterbacks.
Miller should play on SundayThursday 10/16, 9:51 AM CT
The New York Daily News defensive back Justin Miller, inactive the first five games, practiced full Wednesday for the first time since the preseason. He dislocated a toe in the third preseason game and suffered undisclosed setbacks in limited practice, turning a one- to two-week injury into a lengthy period on the sideline. He his hoping to play this week.

Our View: Miller lost his starting cornerback job to rookie Dwight Lowery. It'll be interesting to see how coach Eric Mangini integrates Miller into the secondary.
Edwards will likely play on SundayThursday 10/16, 9:48 AM CT
The Democrat Chronicle reports that Trent Edwards is near 100 percent and is likely to start at quarterback next Sunday. He reportedly threw very well in his return to practice.

Our View: Edwards was knocked out by blitzing safety Adrian Wilson on the third play from scrimmage at Arizona and his head slammed to the ground. He has been having a slightly better than expected season and has a respectable 93.9 quarterback rating.
