Clips want RandolphFriday 7/11, 11:14 PM CT
SI.com reports that the Knicks turned down an offer from the Clippers for Zach Randolph. It's not certain who the Clips were offering, but it's rumored that Knicks' GM Donnie Walsh was seeking seventh overall pick, Eric Gordon.

Our View: In the wake of Elton Brand's departure, the Clippers are suddenly desperate for a power forward and Randolph makes a lot of sense. Walsh has been active in trade talks and we may see something go down before he leaves the Las Vegas summer league.
Arthur looks good in VegasFriday 7/11, 7:59 PM CT
Darrell Arthur wasted no time in making his statement to teams that overpassed/dealt him on draft night. In his Grizzlies debut, he started at center and tallied 18 points on 9-12 shooting. It should be noted that he also recorded nine fouls.

Our View: The Grizzlies are very thin on their front line so Arthur should see plenty of minutes in the upcoming season.
Mayo debutsFriday 7/11, 7:54 PM CT
OJ Mayo showed an all-around game in his summer league debut on Friday. He scored 15 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals. He shot 50% from the field including one three-pointer.

Our View: Mayo also had eight turnovers in the game. We look for him to get plenty more in the regular season, to go along with a healthy amount of shots.
Speights produces big double-doubleFriday 7/11, 7:42 PM CT
Philly's first round selection, Marreese Speights, dropped in a 22 points and 13 boards for the 76ers summer league team on Friday.

Our View: Coming out of Florida, Speights was deemed to have a very high ceiling. He looked like he was in a hurry to get there on Friday. Despite the addition of Elton Brand, Speights could get into the rotation in Philly. They are currently very thin in the front court. At 6-foot-10 and 245 pounds, his body is NBA ready.
Randolph dominates in debutFriday 7/11, 7:38 PM CT
Anthony Randolph got off to an impressive debut with the Warriors. In his first summer league game he poured in 30 points on 12-18 shooting to go with eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

Our View: This confirms Randolph is indeed talented. It does not answer any questions about his potential durability issues. He is incredibly wiry and can't be expected to take an NBA beating night in and night out. Fellow big man Brandan Wright added 17 and seven to go with four blocks.
Bogut signs 5-year $60 million extensionFriday 7/11, 7:12 PM CT
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Andrew Bogut has signed a five year $60 million extension with the Bucks. Original reports suggested $72.5 million.

Our View: $12 million per season is about right for the Austrailian big man. He is a consistent double-double threat who passes as well as any big in the game. Given Milwaukee's plethora of jump shooters, he works well in their system. He is also a Scott Skiles type player. He is consistently under-valued in fantasy circles but should be considered a top-15 center-eligible player. In three seasons, he has started all but 20 games for Milwaukee.
Krstic likely to be on the moveFriday 7/11, 7:03 PM CT
With 15 players under contract, it appears unlikely the Nets will match an offer for restricted free agent Nenad Krstic.

Our View: Krstic was mostly ineffective last season during his attempt to come back from knee surgery. Still, a seven-footer with a decent jump shot will be able to find a home somewhere.
Nachbar likely done with the LakersFriday 7/11, 6:53 PM CT
The signing of Jarvis Hayes and selection of Chris Douglas-Roberts all but mean Bostjan Nachbar's time in New Jersey has come to an end. The Nets have 15 players currently under contract.

Our View: Nachbar looks special at times. There are a handful of teams that are looking for a perimeter threat from the small forward position, so Nachbar should be able to find a deal with somebody.
Najera agrees to join Nets Friday 7/11, 3:26 PM CT
Updating a previous report, Eduardo Najera has agreed to a deal with the Nets, according to the AP. Specific terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Our View: He will bring toughness to the Nets' frontcourt, but won't hold much fantasy value as a reserve.
O'Bryant headed for Boston Friday 7/11, 3:21 PM CT
Patrick O'Bryant has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the Celtics, according to the Boston Globe. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Our View: O'Bryant was the ninth overall pick out of Bradley in the 2006 NBA Draft, selected by Golden State. He played sparingly over two seasons with the Warriors, and will hold very little fantasy value as Kendrick Perkins' backup in Boston.
Minnesota signs Love Friday 7/11, 3:05 PM CT
Kevin Love has agreed to a deal with Minnesota, according to the AP. Specific terms were not disclosed for the fifth overall pick of the draft. But according to the NBA's rookie scale he will make over $2.5 million in his first season and $8.2 million over his first three years in the NBA.

Our View: Love averaged 17.5 points and 10.6 rebounds while helping lead UCLA to the Final Four as a freshman. The Wolves feel he will be a great fit with the team, and are excited about what he will bring offensively and defensively. He could hold favorable fantasy value if he nails down a starting role as a rookie.
Hayes agrees to join the Nets Friday 7/11, 2:58 PM CT
Jarvis Hayes has agreed to a deal with the Nets, according to the AP. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Our View: The former Detroit guard is expected to add versatility and depth to the Nets backcourt. He averaged 6.7 points over 15.5 minutes per contest last season with the Pistons.
Najera on verge of signing with Nets Friday 7/11, 2:12 PM CT
Eduardo Najera is reportedly on the verge of inking a four-year deal with the Nets, according to the Rocky Mountain News. He said "things are looking really good," and the deal is believed to be in the $12 million range.

Our View: Najera would provide favorable bench support (but no fantasy value) with the Nets, as he averaged 5.9 points and 4.3 rebounds over 21.4 minutes per game with Denver last season.
Dallas re-signs Wright Friday 7/11, 1:29 PM CT
The Mavericks have re-signed Antoine Wright, according to the AP. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View: Wright was acquired by the team in February as part of the deal that brought Jason Kidd to Dallas. Wright finished the season averaging a career-best 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds over 56 games with the Mavericks and the Nets. The Mavericks believe he is on the rise and could have a bright future ahead of him with the club.
Bobcats hope to retain Okafor Friday 7/11, 1:25 PM CT
The Bobcats hope to retain restricted free agent Emeka Okafor, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Our View: Okafor turned down an extension with the Bobcats worth around $60 million last year, but he noted that he prefers to stay with the team. The Clippers were believed to make a strong offer for Okafor, but the team is reportedly more interested in Josh Smith of the Hawks right now.
Raptors ink Jawai Friday 7/11, 1:05 PM CT
Nathan Jawai has signed a two-year deal with the Raptors, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: Jawai was the unanimous 2008 Rookie of the Year in Australia’s National Basketball League where he averaged 17.7 points and 9.6 rebounds over 30 games for the Cairns Taipans. Jawai excels as a glass cleaner under the hoop, but is still raw and needs time to develop the other facets of his game.
Mourning undergoes further surgeryFriday 7/11, 11:38 AM CT
Alonzo Mourning recently required a another operation on his right knee, but he informs the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he still hopes to play by the middle of the 2008-09 season. The center tore the patella tendon and a quad tendon in his right leg on December 19, 2007.

Our View: This warrior no longer has any fantasy value, and it's still amazing that he's even trying to come back at this point. Maybe he needs to start up a set of professional veteran's leagues with Brett Favre.
Barry inks with Rockets Friday 7/11, 9:18 AM CT
Brent Barry has inked a two-year deal with the Rockets worth $3.9 million, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: The team added championship experience and leadership, as well as a dangerous weapon from long range, as Barry hit just under 43 percent of his attempts from three-point land last season. The Rockets also believe he will flourish in coach Rick Adelman's motion-based offense, going by Barry's skills as a passer and his movement without the ball.
Brown works out with Bucks Friday 7/11, 8:57 AM CT
Unrestricted free agent Kwame Brown worked out with the Bucks, and is reportedly on a handful of other clubs' radar, including the Heat, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Scott Skiles noted that Brown looked good during the workout.

Our View: The Bucks, who recently signed center Andrew Bogut, covet another backup big man to go along with Dan Gidzuric.
McGrady on Pistons' radar? Friday 7/11, 7:35 AM CT
The Pistons are reportedly making a serious bid to acquire Tracy McGrady from the Rockets, according to MLive.com.

Our View: McGrady is injury-prone but can still light up the scoreboard on any given night when healthy, and would hold solid fantasy value if he lands in Detroit.
Hollins experiencing dizziness Friday 7/11, 7:06 AM CT
Ryan Hollins said he was still experiencing dizziness Thursday, a day after suffering a concussion in a brutal collision with Mustafa Shakur in morning practice, according to ESPN.

Our View: He needed six stitches to close a wound above his right eye and will see a doctor on Friday. The team said he is out indefinitely.
