N'Wide: Logano gets road course top-10Saturday 8/9, 4:55 PM CT
Joey Logano was down on himself in the closing laps, but his crew chief Dave Rogers gave him encouragement and the teenager finished seventh in the final rundown.

Our View: Last week, he nearly had a top-five on the twisty Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Logano now has six top-10s in eight Nationwide starts.
N'Wide: Ambrose wins at the GlenSaturday 8/9, 4:50 PM CT
Marcos Ambrose finished second in Mexico City, third in Montreal and finally found victory lane at Watkins Glen. This was his first career victory in the Nationwide Series.

Our View: It was a long time coming and is one of the most popular victories of the season—unless you were one of the drivers Ambrose banged into en route to the checkers.
Johnson posts single fast lap in Glen HHSaturday 8/9, 1:27 PM CT
Jimmie Johnson posted the single fastest lap in Cup Happy Hour at the Glen with a speed of 121.815 mph.

Our View: His average speed wasn't bad either at 120.200 during 16 laps and he should be considered one of the favorites for Sunday's Centurion Boats at the Glen.
Ambrose wins Glen HHSaturday 8/9, 1:24 PM CT
After posting the quickest time in the morning practice session, Marcos Ambrose backed that up with a quickest time in Happy Hour at 120.656 during nine laps.

Our View: This time he wasn't the fastest driver, but at 121.523 mph he didn't miss by much and posted the third best time.
Ragan crashes in Glen's HHSaturday 8/9, 12:52 PM CT
David Ragan crashed in Happy Hour and destroyed his primary car. He will have to go to a backup for the race.

Our View: Ragan has been one of the best dark horses in recent weeks with a four-race streak of top-15s, but the Centurion Boats at the Glen is going to be a huge hurdle.
Said off course in Glen's HHSaturday 8/9, 12:48 PM CT
Boris Said went into the kitty litter in turn one during Happy Hour practice for the Centurion Boats at the Glen.

Our View: Said is probably trying to get more out of the No. 45 Petty Enterprises Dodge than it's capable of giving. In his own car, he would be a good value, but he is a risky proposition in this backup role.
Carpentier spins in Glen's P1Saturday 8/9, 12:26 PM CT
Patrick Carpentier spun in turn one at the Glen in practice for the Centurion Boats at the Glen.

Our View: He spun in precisely the same spot at Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon last year – so this may actually be a good omen.
Ky Busch off road in P1Saturday 8/9, 12:19 PM CT
Kyle Busch has an early off road excursion in the first practice session at Watkins Glen.

Our View: He slid off course in turn 10 and cut a lot of grass, but otherwise had very little damage. He was not happy with his car before that incident.
Ambrose wins P1 at GlenSaturday 8/9, 11:59 AM CT
Marcos Ambrose posted the fastest lap in the first practice session with a speed of 121.491 mph. He also had the fastest average speed of 120.986 mph during eight laps.

Our View: Too bad NASCAR did not get qualification accomplished on Friday, because Ambrose's odds are hurt by starting deep in the pack. Should be fun to see him coming from the back, however.
N'Wide: Franchitti on pole at GlenSaturday 8/9, 10:45 AM CT
Dario Franchitti earned the pole for the Zippo 200 with a speed of 121.327 mph.

Our View: Franchitti is coming back to NASCAR with a vengeance and there are still several good Cup rides open in 2009. He could be one of this week's favorites.
