Contreras shows well versus ClevelandWednesday 7/2, 11:11 PM CT
Chicago RHP Jose Contreras wasn't terribly dominating on the mound against Cleveland this evening, but he got the job done to help his White Sox earn the 6-5 win over the Indians. Contreras pitched six innings to allow four runs (three earned) on six hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

Our View: Contreras was a worry last month, going 2-3 with a 6.83 ERA. This ranks as one of the best outings he's seen this season and, we hope, serves as a sign of things to come.
Carroll delivers two RBI in loss Wednesday 7/2, 11:06 PM CT
Jamey Carroll went 1-for-5 with two RBI in Wednesday's tough 6-5 loss to the division rival White Sox. His hit went for a triple, his fourth of the season.

Our View: The Indians' second baseman is hitting .285, and recorded an RBI in four of his last six games. He would be a good guy to consider if you could use some depth to your fantasy infield.
Pierzynski homers twice vs ClevelandWednesday 7/2, 11:06 PM CT
It was a hard-fought battle, but the White Sox emerged 6-5 over the Cleveland Indians this evening with eight hits spread through six hitters. Catcher A.J. Pierzynski was weapon of choice, going 2-for-5 with two homers on the night, good for two RBIs and two runs scored.

Our View: Pierzynski quietly hit .326 last month though his run production is lacking (just 11 RBIs through June). Getting off the hump and driving runs in should be priority #1 to improve his offerings moving forward.
Sizemore hits pair of homers in loss Wednesday 7/2, 10:57 PM CT
Grady Sizemore went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the White Sox. Two of his hits went for solo homers. He also stole a base and scored four runs in the game, which took 10 innings to decide.

Our View: He has 21 homers for the season, with four coming over his last seven games. His stolen base was also his 20th, and he is on pace for his first career 30/30 campaign.
Kazmir struggles versus BostonWednesday 7/2, 10:37 PM CT
Tampa Bay LHP Scott Kazmir wasn't as dominating as we might have expected, though the Rays still pulled the 7-6 win over Boston. Kazmir pitched just five innings, allowing four runs (all earned) on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts.

Our View: After going 5-1 with an ERA of 1.22 through May, Kazmir went just 2-2 with an ERA of 3.60 through June, just a small fact to ponder as you consider Kazmir's potential for the month ahead.
Crawford helps Rays over SoxWednesday 7/2, 10:32 PM CT
As is normally the case, the Tampa Bay effort versus the Boston Red Sox tonight, winning 7-6, was helped along by outfielder Carl Crawford , going 3-for-4 at the dish with three singles, his 21st stolen base of the season, and one walk, also adding one run scored to the stat line.

Our View: Crawford has struggled to get his offensive numbers to the tall expectations many fantasy owners harbored, hitting .267 with four homers for 14 RBIs through June. Nights like this are not coming often enough, but the potential for a surge is clearly on hand.
Drew goes 2-for-4 with RBI Wednesday 7/2, 10:30 PM CT
J.D. Drew went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to Tampa Bay.

Our View: Drew raised his average to .302 and recorded an RBI in three-straight games. Drew shall remain penciled into your fantasy outfield.
Longoria drives in three vs BostonWednesday 7/2, 10:27 PM CT
In what may be the best growing rivalry in the league this season, the Tampa Bay Rays drew blood against the Boston Red Sox in a hard-fought 7-6 win. Third baseman Evan Longoria was the leader of the parade, going 3-for-4 with his 21st double of the season, finishing with three RBIs and one run scored.

Our View: Longoria hit .300 last month with eight homers and 19 RBIs, but he has been especially hot of late, going 16-for-35 with three homers and 11 RBIs since June 25th.
Dice-K pitches well in no decision Wednesday 7/2, 10:26 PM CT
Daisuke Matsuzaka only allowed one earned run on two hits over five innings in a tough 7-6 loss to the upstart Rays, with five walks and five strikeouts. Boston led 2-1 when he exited the game, but ultimately ended his night with a no decision.

Our View: Other than the five walks, he pitched great. He remains 9-1 for the season, and trimmed his ERA to 3.12, while only allowing one earned run over his last two starts.
A-Rod keeps the runs coming vs TexasWednesday 7/2, 10:04 PM CT
Alex Rodriguez seems to have found inspiration from his meeting earlier this week with Madonna, going 2-for-3 with two walks and his 17th homer of the season this evening as the Yanks put the Rangers to bed, 18-7. A-Rod totaled three RBIs and four runs scored on the night.

Our View: A-Rod was inspired before the Material Girl turned him on to the Kabala, hitting .366 through June with nine home runs and 23 RBIs. He's getting off to a strong start this month as well. Shocker.
Giambi drives in sixWednesday 7/2, 10:00 PM CT
The Yankees found more than a few reasons for happiness this evening, posting 18 runs on 16 hits to triumph in dominating fashion over the Texas Rangers, 18-7. The man of the hour: Designated hitter Jason Giambi , going 2-for-4 at the plate with his 13th double and 18th homer of the season, totaling a whopping six RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View: Giambi added the moustache and started hitting, touting six homers for 19 RBIs last month while hitting .305 through June. If he stays hot through July, he may become the most feared hitter in a lineup bloated with All Stars.
Bradley blasts homer in loss Wednesday 7/2, 9:58 PM CT
Milton Bradley went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 18-7 loss to the Yankees.

Our View: That was his 17th homer of the season, and his second over his last six games.
Hamilton adds two more RBI Wednesday 7/2, 9:54 PM CT
Josh Hamilton went 1-for-3 with two RBI in Wednesday's 18-7 loss to the Yankees in the Bronx. His hit went for a single.

Our View: Hamilton now has 82 RBI over 83 games, with six coming over his last six games.
Nady homers twice in win over CincyWednesday 7/2, 9:27 PM CT
The Pirates brought plenty of offense to the park this evening, beating up on the Cincinnati Reds 9-5. Outfielder Xavier Nady was the force of reckoning at the plate, going 3-for-5 with not one but two home runs (his 11th and 12th of the year) to total three RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View: Nady has been strong for Pitt this season, hitting .278 last month despite injury struggles. If he can get his run production back on track, he could make fantasy owners very happy.
Cabrera throws complete gameWednesday 7/2, 8:52 PM CT
Baltimore RHP Daniel Cabrera enjoyed a strong performance on the mound tonight, leading the way for the Orioles' 5-2 win over the Kansas City Royals. Cabrera pitched a complete game, allowing just two earned runs on seven hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Our View: Cabrera needed this win, going 3-1 through May only to fall in June, going 0-3 with 23 total earned runs allowed over five starts (7.06 ERA through the month). Tonight could signal a return to the joys of May where Cabrera registered a much more tasty 3.14 ERA.
Hernandez heating up for O'sWednesday 7/2, 8:47 PM CT
The Orioles found the offense needed to give a strong pitching performance the support needed to garner the 5-2 win over the Royals, an effort largely pushed by catcher Ramon Hernandez . Hernandez went 3-for-4 at the plate with three singles and one RBI to show for the effort.

Our View: Hernandez showed signs of life with an improved batting average of .273 through June, and after going 2-for-4 last night with tonight's performance bolstering the streak, Hernandez now has hits in each of his last five games, including two home runs and six RBIs over that span.
Chavez officially placed on DL Wednesday 7/2, 8:46 PM CT
Eric Chavez has officially been placed on the 15-day DL due to his sore right shoulder, according to the AP. The team recalled infielder Wes Bankston from Triple-A Sacramento as an adjoining move.

Our View: This is his second trip to the DL this season, and he only played in 23 games so far, with a .247 batting average.
Meche drops to 6-9 Wednesday 7/2, 8:30 PM CT
Gil Meche allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits over six innings in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to Baltimore, with two walks and no strikeouts.

Our View: Tonight's loss snaps a three-game winning streak for him. He only allowed one earned run in each of his last two wins heading into tonight.
Young leaves game Wednesday 7/2, 8:08 PM CT
Michael Young left Wednesday night's game against the Yankees due to an apparent left groin strain, according to the AP.

Our View: We will keep you posted when more details regarding the injury are determined. He was replaced at shortstop by Ramon Vazquez.
Albers opts for rehab over surgery Wednesday 7/2, 6:57 PM CT
Matt Albers has opted to try rehab instead of undergoing surgery on his torn labrum of his right shoulder, according to the AP. Albers said, "I’m still optimistic I’ll be able to pitch this year. I don’t really want to have surgery. I don’t think anyone really wants to."

Our View: His rehab will likely keep him out of action for two months, meaning he isn't worth holding onto as a fantasy prospect.
Ellis chips in two RBI in losing effortWednesday 7/2, 6:25 PM CT
Mark Ellis went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Angels.

Our View: Ellis is quietly on a hot streak, as he registered two hits in three straight games, with four RBI over the span. He hit his ninth homer of the season last night as well.

J.D. Drew has been named the AL Player of the Month for June, according to the AP. Drew hit .337 (31-for-92) with 12 homers and tied for the major league lead with 29 RBI over 28 games in the month. Drew also scored 27 runs and had a ML-best .848 slugging percentage.

Our View: It marked the first monthly award for Drew, who raised his season average to .299 with 16 homers and 50 RBI over 72 games.
Lackey named AL Pitcher of Month Wednesday 7/2, 4:15 PM CT
John Lackey has been named the AL Pitcher of the Month for June, according to the AP. Lackey went 5-0 with a 1.16 ERA in the month (38.2 innings), with 34 strikeouts.

Our View: Lackey was worth the wait this season, as he is 6-1 with a 1.44 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over nine starts.
Cabrera expected to play ThursdayWednesday 7/2, 3:36 PM CT
Miguel Cabrera was out of the lineup on Wednesday for the second straight game after hurting his left hip flexor muscle in Monday's game against the Twins. Manager Jim Leyland said after the game he was available to pinch hit in the game but wasn't needed.

Our View: Leyland also said he expects him to return to the lineup on Thursday in Seattle.
Bonine chased after 2.2 inningsWednesday 7/2, 3:28 PM CT
Eddie Bonine exited Wednesday's 7-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins after 2.2 innings of work. The outing was the shortest of his four major league starts. The right-hander gave up five runs (two earned) on seven hits, walked two and struck out one.

Our View: The loss is Bonine's first of the season, and his ERA climbed from 3.98 to 4.30 even with two of the runs being unearned.
Blackburn goes seven strongWednesday 7/2, 3:24 PM CT
Nick Blackburn combined with two Twins' relievers to complete a five-hit shutout as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Detroit Tigers 7-0 on Wednesday. Blackburn allowed three hits, walked one and struck out four in seven innings. Jesse Crain allowed two hits in the eighth, and Boof Bonser pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.

Our View: Blackburn was bombed in his last start and has been increasingly generous with flyballs in his last few starts. This was a nice bounce back effort over a good hitting Tigers lineup.
Pedroia in the zoneWednesday 7/2, 2:08 PM CT
Dustin Pedroia is in the middle of a 9-game hitting streak. He's posted nine runs, two home runs, and two stolen bases over this stretch.

Our View: Pedroia keeps delivering out of the 2 hole for the Sox. Look for him to continue producing with ManRam and the superhot Drew hitting behind him.
Angels interested in HollidayWednesday 7/2, 2:07 PM CT
Fox Sports reports that the Angels are showing interest in Rockies outfielder Matt Holliday. The report notes that after failing in attempts to secure free agents Mark Teixeira and Miguel Cabrera in the past year, the team is chasing Holliday in an effort to bolster their offense.

Our View: The first place Angels are tied for next-to-last in the American League in runs per game.
Bankston called upWednesday 7/2, 2:02 PM CT
Wes Bankston was called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday and he'll be making his big-league debut at first base this afternoon, this according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Bankston is replacing the injured Eric Chavez (shoulder) on the 25-man roster.
Chavez lands on DLWednesday 7/2, 12:51 PM CT
MLB.com reports, Eric Chavez will be placed on the 15-day disable list due to his sore right shoulder. Frustrated by his latest injury Chavez said, "I just want to get to the point where I can get out there and know I can be a productive player, and right now I'm not."

Our View: Chavez had surgery on the shoulder in October to remove bone spurs and missed most of the first two months this year. We will keep an eye on this situation as the six-time gold glove winner can't seem to stay healthy.
Granderson heats upWednesday 7/2, 12:41 PM CT
Curtis Granderson has been heating up over the last couple weeks, he raised his BA over 40 points in the month of June, while also tallying 22 runs and four stolen bases.

Our View: Grandrson is the catalyst of the Tigers, one of the hottest teams in baseball right now. Look for him to remain hot as Detroit is finally starting to perform at the level everyone thought they could. Until he slows down, Granderson is a must start in all formats.
Cuddyer to return after the All-Star breakWednesday 7/2, 12:08 PM CT
The Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune reports that an MRI on Michael Cuddyer's left hand revealed a sprained knuckle on his index finger.

Our View: This appears to be good news and the Twins expect to activate him over the All-Star break.
Francisco earns the setup roleWednesday 7/2, 12:03 PM CT
Assuming Eddie Guardado takes his time recovering from his sore ankle and shoulder, it appears Frank Francisco will be called upon for eighth inning duties for the Rangers. In his last seven appearances he has not allowed a run while striking out nine and walking just one batter.

Our View: Francisco combines a variety of pitches with accuracy and could be a long term solution for the setup role in the Rangers' bullpen. He has not allowed any of his 10 inherited runners over his last seven games to score.
Buchholz could return to rotationWednesday 7/2, 12:00 PM CT
The Red Sox pulled Clay Buchholz from the PawSox game Monday night after the right-hander pitched five scoreless innings, and according to the Boston Globe they believe there is a reason. Buchholz appears return to the Sox rotation, possibly as soon as Saturday against division rival New York in the Bronx.

Our View: Buchholz is 4-1 with a 1.63 ERA in eight starts. In his last four starts, he is 4-0 with a 0.40 ERA, allowing a single earned run in 22.2 innings. Justin Masterson is 4-2 with a 3.75 ERA in eight starts but has walked nine batters over 12 innings in his last two starts. Manager Terry Francona is concerned about how many innings his 23-year-old has thrown professionally.
Lopez promoted from ToledoWednesday 7/2, 11:29 AM CT
The Detroit Tigers recalled right-handed reliever Aquilino Lopez from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday. The right hander has pitched well since being sent to the top affiliate

Our View: Zach Miner was optioned to Toledo to make room for Lopez.
Miner demoted to Triple-AWednesday 7/2, 11:24 AM CT
The Detroit Tigers optioned right-handed reliever Zach Miner to Toledo on Wednesday morning, and recalled right-handed reliever Aquilino Lopez.

Our View: Miner scuffled through April and walked four in two innings in Tuesday night's loss to Minnesota. The club is sending Miner down to the farm to work on his mechanics.
Cabrera won't play WednesdayWednesday 7/2, 11:17 AM CT
The Miguel Cabrera reports that Tigers skipper Jim Leyland said first baseman Miguel Cabrera (hip) won't start Wednesday night in Minnesota.

Our View: This will be the second straight game Cabrera will miss after leaving Monday's game in the fourth inning. The team considers Cabrera day-to-day.
Ortiz takes his first swingsWednesday 7/2, 10:49 AM CT
David Ortiz took his first swings since May on Tuesday, according to the Boston Herald. “He did well, really well,” said Magadan, who observed the slugger take 60 swings off a tee Monday. “Today was supposed to be an off day for David but he felt good enough where he wanted to take some more swings. So I just said, ‘Let him go at it.’ ”

Our View: “I want to play,” Ortiz said. “It’s tough. I’m not used to it.” We fantasy owners understand all too well. Do not get too excited. It is unlikely he will return until well after the All-Star break.
Ellsbury hopes to snap out of slumpWednesday 7/2, 10:44 AM CT
Jacoby Ellsbury will remain the leadoff man for the Red Sox despite watching his batting average slide 20 points in June. Terry Francona told the Boston Herald, “What he has shown he can do ignites us so much. We believe in him. Once you believe in somebody, you have to kind of let him go through it. I don’t think he’s tired. I think he’s a little frustrated. With what he brings on the bases, if he gets on on an error or a force out at second base, he can change the game with his legs.”

Our View: We fully expect Ellsbury to bounce back from a lousy June but there is some concern. He walked just three times while striking out in 20 appearances during June. April and May saw him take 27 base-on-balls next to just 19 whiffs. Have pitchers figured him out? Keep an eye on that ratio.
Wheeler will see some save opportunitiesWednesday 7/2, 10:30 AM CT
The St. Petersburg Times reports that with Troy Percival on the DL, the Rays will return to a closer-by-committee format, with Dan Wheeler , Trever Miller, Grant Balfour and J.P. Howell all candidates to get the final out. Balfour did so Tuesday, picking up his second save of the season.

Our View: Wheeler was unavailable on Tuesday after throwing each of the previous three nights. He carries an impressive 1.88 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Al Reyes could also return from the DL next week. Reyes recorded 26 saves last season for the Rays.
Tigers claim foulWednesday 7/2, 10:24 AM CT
Detroit manager Jim Leyland is convinced Twins left-hander Glen Perkins intentionally threw at Carlos Guillen during the first inning of Monday night's game in Minnesota, this according to the Star Tribune . "We thought Guillen had been thrown at," Leyland said. "Only we threw ours low, and they threw theirs high -- right at a guy's head -- and it went all the way to the backstop on the fly. So that's my message.

Our View: When a guy is 4-for-5 (home run and two doubles) off a pitcher and that hitters gets one high and tight at the head -- chances are a message is being sent. Perkins told reporters after the game that he didn't realize how close the pitch came to Guillen's head until after he saw replays.
Ponson versus TexasWednesday 7/2, 10:04 AM CT
The New York Daily reports that less than a month after being cut by Texas, Sidney Ponson will have a chance to get a little payback Wednesday, when he takes the mound against the Rangers. Ponson didn't speak to New York media Tuesday. He claimed that he doesn't talk the day before he pitches. He did, however, offer up a few words to squash any idea that he had hard feelings saying "Look, they are just another team,"

Our View: Before Tuesday night's game, Rangers' skipper Ron Washington addressed Ponson's situation. "Of course he could pitch, he just didn't fit here," Washington said. "That was something that happened that was unavoidable and we wish him all the luck in the world. The Yankees need pitching and they picked him up. We never said he couldn't pitch. He will do well. I just hope not (Wednesday)." The Rangers designated Ponson for assignment on June 6, with Daniels citing him for "disrespecting teammates and club personnel."
Griffey won't be going back to SeattleWednesday 7/2, 9:44 AM CT
The News Tribune reports that Ken Griffey Jr. has been offered to the Mariners but no deal will be done. Both teams are trying to dump payroll as they are on pace to finish at the bottoms of their divisions.

Our View: It is still very possible that Griffey is dealt to a contender despite the slump that he is in. The Reds do not figure to ask too much in return. For fantasy owners still holding onto Griffey, a change of scenery might spark a jump in numbers ala Jim Edmonds.
Loewen is effective in his returnWednesday 7/2, 9:29 AM CT
Adam Loewen was effective in his first game back from rehabbing his elbow. He held Kansas City scoreless over two innings while giving up two hits, walking one, and striking out another.

Our View: Loewen is the lefty specialist in the bullpen for the Orioles and he should see plenty of action. Furthermore, he may become an emergency starter down the line if one of the rotation guys come up sore.
Balfour to close for PercivalWednesday 7/2, 9:19 AM CT
It appears that Grant Balfour will serve as the Rays closer while Troy Percival is on the disabled list, not Dan Wheeler. When Balfour was in Triple-A Durham to begin the season he was 8-for-8 in save opportunities. According to the Tampa Tribune, in his 23-plus innings, he allowed just five hits and struck out 39. Right-handed hitters batted .029 against him. He was recalled in late May. The fire came with him. Eleven of Balfour's 12 appearances have been scoreless. He has 25 of the 63 batters he has faced. His ERA is 1.08. There's fire, and people can feel it.

Our View: Since being recalled in late May, eleven of Balfour's 12 appearances have been scoreless. He has struck out 25 of the 63 batters he has faced and his ERA is 1.08. Madden likes the 30-year old hard-throwing right-hander and he appears destined for big things in Tampa this year.
Cabrera could be out of the starting lineup until next weekWednesday 7/2, 9:18 AM CT
Miguel Cabrera flied out in a pinch-hit opportunity on Tuesday. The Detroit News reports that he may be out of the starting lineup til next week because of a sore hip.

Our View: Marcus Thames replaced him at first base. If you have an alternative to starting Cabrera, you should bench him until further notice.
Kazmir starts vs. Red SoxWednesday 7/2, 9:12 AM CT
The Tampa Tribune reports that Scott Kazmir no longer looks at his move from New York to Tampa Bay as the worst day in his professional career. The day the Mets dealt him to Tampa Bay now ranks as one of his best. "It turned out to be a blessing," said Kazmir.

Our View: Kazmir is 7-3 with a 2.28 ERA and takes on the big bad Red Sox as Tampa tries to beat Boston for the third straight game, and stretch the team's AL East lead to 3.5 games.
DeJesus is set to return to the starting lineupWednesday 7/2, 9:06 AM CT
According to the Kansas City Star, David DeJesus could rejoin the starting lineup Wednesday. Manager Trey Hillman said, "He took about 30 tee swings and about 20 soft-toss swings (before the game). He's better. We just felt it was better to keep him out one more day."

Our View: Dejesus was on a 13 game hitting streak before bruising his ribs in a home plate collision on Sunday. He was hitting .438 over that span.
Chavez still not close to returnWednesday 7/2, 8:45 AM CT
Eric Chavez, who has not played third base in more than a week and a half, is still not ready to return to the lineup, this according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Asked about his sore right shoulder Tuesday, Chavez said, "I don't know what's going on with it."

Our View: The soreness has not subsided enough for Chavez to play in the field. Chavez had surgery on the shoulder in October to remove bone spurs and missed most of the first two months this year.
Devine continues to progressWednesday 7/2, 8:42 AM CT
Joey Devine had a successful mound session on Monday and will begin pitching simulated innings as early as Sunday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Devine had an incredible 11.45 K:BB ratio before being bothered by his elbow. He is worth keeping an eye on once he returns both in AL only leagues and deep leagues. If the A's become sellers at the deadline and move Huston Street, Devine would be in line to pick up saves for the A's.
Buck comes off minor-league DLWednesday 7/2, 8:41 AM CT
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that outfielder Travis Buck (concussion) came off Triple-A Sacramento's disabled list on Monday and went 2-for-4 with a double.

Our View: Buck will continue to work on his hand movement and plate discipline while on the farm. Look for him to return to the big club in the next week.
Thomas to undergo another MRIWednesday 7/2, 8:37 AM CT
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Frank Thomas will have another MRI on his injured hamstring on Monday.

Our View: The slugger is hoping that he will be cleared to start hitting next week. We will know more after the MRI.
Wells goes 3-for-5 Wednesday 7/2, 12:26 AM CT
Vernon Wells went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Seattle. He hit two singles and a double.

Our View: Wells is hitting .444 (8-for-18) over his last four games, with one homer and four RBI.
Beltre homers in win over TorontoWednesday 7/2, 12:22 AM CT
Seattle and Toronto battled late into the night with the hometown Mariners finding the strength to emerge victorious, 7-6. The charge was led by third baseman Adrian Beltre , going 3-for-4 with one walk and his 16th home run of the season, totaling two RBIs and two runs scored on the night.

Our View: Beltre managed to hit just .264 last month with three home runs and 15 RBIs. We all know he is capable of much more, and with this impressive start to July, we may see it come to the stage in the month ahead.
Santana gets no decisionWednesday 7/2, 12:06 AM CT
Angels ace Ervin Santana failed to get the win in tonight's 5-3 victory over Oakland, but not due to a lack of effort. Santana pitched seven innings to surrender two runs (both earned) on eight hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Our View: Fantasy owners will be happy to hear Santana failed to surrender a homer and he continues to add to his already-gaudy strikeout/walk ratio. A win would have been nice, but the offensive support wasn't there.
Anderson homers in win over OaklandWednesday 7/2, 12:02 AM CT
The Angels prove more efficient on offense this evening, posting one less hit than the opposing Oakland A's but finding two more runs, winning 5-3. The work of designated hitter Garret Anderson led the way, going 2-for-4 with his seventh home run of the season as well as his sixth stolen base, ending with two RBIs and one run scored.

Our View: Anderson hit just .188 for the month of June with one homer and just eight RBIs. Getting him back on track would be a gift, and this game may serve as the catalyst for that rise.
