As anticipated, the Bruins have bought out the remaining time on winger Glen Murray's contract, according to TSN.

Glen Murray has cleared waivers, according to the AP.

Our View:Murray went unclaimed one day after being placed on waivers, leaving the Bruins 48 hours in which to buy out the remaining year on his contract. The 35-year-old winger is slated to make $4.15 million next season, but Boston would save $2.9 million against the salary cap by buying out his contract.
July 23, 2008
The Bruins have placed Glen Murray on waivers, according to TSN.

Our View:The 35-year-old forward had trouble staying healthy in 2007-08, and contributed 17 goals and 13 assists over 63 games, with 50 penalty minutes. Two of his goals were game-winners. Murray can be traded or bought out, or they may simply hold on to him if he clears waivers.
July 13, 2008
Glen Murray will likely be bought out by the Bruins in order to get the contract of Dennis Wideman to fit under the team's salary cap, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Murray did not have a great season a year ago, registering just 30 points, and at age 35, his fantasy value is limited.
July 1, 2008
Glen Murray was not bought out of his contract by the Bruins but there still remains a 48 hour window where it could be revisited upon the completion of Dennis Wideman's arbitration case, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Basically, as soon as Wideman's case is finalized, the clock starts ticking for Murray. The team will therefore have a bit of time to decide if they want to bring back Murray and his $4 million plus contract a year after he was limited to just 17 goals and 30 points in 63 injury filled games.
June 15, 2008
Bruins management, according to the Boston Globe, won't say for the record whether it's time to part company with their 35-year-old right winger, Glen Murray. "I don't really have a comment," said general manager Peter Chiarelli when asked about the possibility of Murray being bought out. "We have that option with all of our players, and in the [salary] cap world, it's something you sometimes must consider."

Our View: Murray, dealing with an assortment of injuries, finished with only 17 goals and 30 points in 63 regular-season games - his weakest production in more than a decade. Only underscoring his futility, he then went the Full Thornton (0-0 -0) in six-plus playoff games, exiting early with a cracked rib in Game 7 of the Montreal series. A veteran of 16 NHL seasons, he still has only 20 postseason goals.
April 22, 2008
Glen Murray failed to record a point in the Bruins series loss to the Canadiens and even worse it appears that he suffered a severe injury to his ribs in Game 7, this according to the Boston Herald. “They said (the ribs) were either broken or cracked, but he was in quite a bit of pain,” said Bruins HC Claude Julien.

Our View:After five straight seasons of at least 24 goals during which time he averaged 33 a season, Murray limped home to only 30 points this season, 17 of which were goals. This also marked the third straight season that Murray failed to play in 65 games, so heading into to next season it's best to realize that Murray may never return to his 30+ goal scoring ways.
February 9, 2008
Glen Murray in just his second game back on the ice after an extended time on the sidelines because of a hip injury, scored a goal and added an assist in the Bruins 6-3 loss to the Panthers. Murray has averaged 33 goals a season since joining the Bruins, but with only 10 goals this season he won't be able to match that total this season.
February 8, 2008
Bruins forward Glen Murray returned to the ice on Friday night for the first time since suffering a hip injury on Dec. 20 that cost him 19 games. Murray, a seven-time 20-goal-scorer, has 10 goals and 19 points in 34 games this season.
February 8, 2008
Glen Murray made it through a second practice Thursday without feeling the effects of his strained hip flexor, according to the Boston Globe. Assuming he gets through Friday morning's skate all right, he should return to game action in the evening. Murray, who has missed 19 games due to the ailment, has skated in practice on the third line with David Krejci and P.J. Axelsson.
February 6, 2008
Glen Murray, recovering from a hip flexor strain, participated in yesterday's morning skate. He didn't play last night, but he could return by the weekend, according to the Boston Globe.
February 5, 2008
Glen Murray skated with the team at practice Monday for the first time since his hip flexor strain, though he did wear a red no-contact sweater. "That was my first real practice," Murray said in the Boston Globe. "It feels good. I need to do more; there's no way you get in game shape without skating and practicing with the guys in game situations. It's a big difference." Murray has missed the last 18 games, but it sounds as if his return is on the horizon.
February 3, 2008
Glen Murray is getting closer to returning to game action, according to the Boston Herald. "As long as there aren’t any setbacks, he’s getting closer and closer every day," coach Claude Julien said. He's working his way back from a hip flexor injury, but indications are that he could hit the ice within the next week or so.
February 1, 2008
Glen Murray still is working his way back into game shape, but it may be a while longer before he plays, according to the Boston Herald. When asked whether he's confident he'll be able to return from his strained hip flexor inside of two weeks, he said, "I hope so," said Murray. "I hope it’s within the next couple of days. I wish it was three weeks ago. It’s been long enough. Has it been long? It’s been long, oh yeah. Patience is running out, but I want to be sure it’s right. I don’t want to be set back another couple of weeks. I’ve got no answers. I’m just going out there and doing my thing for a half-hour. Could I jump into a game now? No chance." It doesn't appear that he will be back in the mix right away. Consider him week-to-week for now.
January 20, 2008
Glen Murray has been cleared to return to practice, which he may do for the first time on Monday, according to the Boston Globe. He's missed the past 12 games due to a strained hip flexor. It's not clear exactly how many practices he'll need before hitting the ice for game action, but it looks like he's heading in the right direction.
January 5, 2008
Glen Murray was able to skate on his own before practice on Friday, according to the Boston Globe. He's still working his way back from a hip-flexor injury, and it's not clear when we'll see him back in game action.
