Sidney Crosby was involved in all four Pittsburgh goals on Saturday, picking up an assist to go with his hat trick. The Penguins defeated the Devils 4-2.

November 28, 2008
Sidney Crosby fired five shots on net on Friday night and two of those shots slipped past Ryan Miller of the Sabres in the Penguins 4-3 loss to Buffalo.

Our View:That's four goals in four games and eight points over that period of time as Crosby is suddenly white hot. Crosby is back as the dominating scorer that we all know he is with at least two points in six of his last 11 games.
November 26, 2008
Sidney Crosby scored a goal and added two assists in the Penguins' 5-3 win on Wednesday.

November 22, 2008
Sidney Crosby was held pointless and was a (-2) in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Vancouver.

Our View:This was the second time in three games that Crosby's been held without a point, but he's still averaging well over a point-per-game with 25 points in 19 contests so far this year.
November 20, 2008
Sidney Crosby scored a goal and had two assists in the Penguins' 3-2 win over the Thrashers on Thursday night.

Our View:What more can you say about Crosby? He now has seven goals and 18 assists in 19 games. He is well on his way to another MVP.
November 13, 2008
Sidney Crosby entered Thursday night with just four goals on the year before he went out and scored two goals against the Flyers in the Penguins 5-4 shootout victory over the Flyers.

Our View:Crosby may have been off to a bit of a slow start in the goal category, but when a guy has 21 points in 16 games you really can't complain too much can you? Just goes to show you how good this guy is.
November 8, 2008
Sidney Crosby will play for the Penguins on Saturday against the Islanders, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View:Crosby left the team's practice on Friday with an undisclosed injury, but whatever it is has healed to the point that Crosby is a go, so fantasy owners can feel free to use him.
November 7, 2008
Sidney Crosby left practice early on Friday and is still questionable for Saturday's game, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Crosby has still been productive in the games following his initial injury, so keep in your lineup until you hear that he is out.
November 1, 2008

Our View:He was dealing with an undisclosed injury but looks to be fine, evidenced by tonight's solid performance. He has now generated 15 points over 12 games.
November 1, 2008
As expected, Sidney Crosby has returned to the Penguins' lineup Saturday against the Blues, according to the Associated Press. He had been dealing with an undisclosed injury.

Our View:Barring a setback, he should be fine to return to fantasy lineups.
November 1, 2008
Sidney Crosby said he would play against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night despite suffering an undisclosed injury in his previous game, according to the Canadian Press. Crosby was hurt during Thursday’s 4-1 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes, leaving after two shifts in the third period when he felt “discomfort.” He was listed as day-to-day but skated in Saturday’s morning skate.

Our View:The status on Crosby changes by the hour, but as of now, plan on playing him. The Pens are trying to snap a three-game losing streak and face Blues' backup goaltender Chris Mason next.
November 1, 2008
The AP reports that Sidney Crosby participated in a morning skate Saturday, but his status for Pittsburgh’s game against St. Louis was undetermined two days after he left a game with an undisclosed injury. The team said on its Web site that Crosby is day-to-day.

Our View:Crosby is the 2006-07 NHL scoring champion and MVP. He missed 28 games last season with a high ankle sprain. We assume he won't miss much time with this undisclosed injury, if any at all.
October 31, 2008
The AP reports that Sidney Crosby has an undisclosed injury, and it’s unclear if the Pittsburgh Penguins star will be able to play Saturday night against St. Louis. Crosby left Thursday night’s game at Phoenix with five minutes left in the second period. After the game, a 4-1 loss by the Penguins, he would only say he had “some discomfort.”

Our View:Crosby has three goals and 10 assists in 11 games. He is the team’s second-leading scorer behind Evgeni Malkin. It is not expected that he will miss many games, if any at all.
October 29, 2008
Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will no longer play on a line together, as they had been doing with Pascal Dupuis, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Crosby now centers a line with Ruslan Fedotenko and Dupis, while Malkin goes back to center with wingers Matt Cooke and Petr Sykora. The move also means Jordan Staal was moved to the third line.
October 25, 2008
Sidney Crosby has been battling an illness, but he put that aside for one night and scored a goal in the Penguins 3-2 shootout loss to the Rangers.

Our View:However, his backhand effort was stopped in the shootout. The regulation goal was just his third of the year.
October 24, 2008
Sidney Crosby noted improvement in the respiratory illness and severe sore throat he has been battling for several days, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:His play on the ice has not been compromised by the illness, as he has scored a point in four straight games, notching nine points over the span.
October 23, 2008
Sidney Crosby scored his second goal and picked up his ninth assist on Thursday as the Penguins beat Carolina 4-1. He also had two penalty minutes in the effort.

Our View:Crosby figures to be on his way to another MVP-worthy campaign. The Penguins would like to see him put more pucks in the net and it's only a matter of time before he answers that call.
October 19, 2008
Sidney Crosby set three milestones in his four-point performance Saturday night against Toronto, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:His goal scored was the 100th of his career, and his three assists pushed him over the 200 mark (202). He also reached 302 career points, as the third milestone.
October 18, 2008

October 17, 2008
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will be linemates when the Penguins face Toronto Saturday night at Mellon Arena. Coach Michel Therrien had Crosby between Malkin and Pascal Dupuis during practice at Southpointe Friday.

Our View:Crosby has yet to record a goal through five games but he does have four assists. Malkin also has four assists and the new line should produce plenty of scoring opportunities.
October 16, 2008
Sidney Crosby did not score a goal, but he did have two assists in Pittsburgh's 4-2 loss to the Capitals on Thursday.

Our View:The Kid was also a -4 on the night. It has not been a good beginning of the year for Crosby, who hasn't scored a goal on the season in five games and is now a -3.
October 5, 2008
Sidney Crosby picked up an assist on Sunday and now has two of them two games into the 2009 campaign.

Our View:Not many players can produce two assists in two games and be considered mildly disappointing. Crosby will no doubt have a his fair share of average performances, but when this kid gets hot there are few players more capable of racking up prodigious point totals.
October 2, 2008
Sidney Crosby registered three assists in Thursday's 4-1 win over Jokerit of the Finnish Elite League.

Our View:He is off a good start as the Penguins head into their regular season opener against the Senators on Saturday (in Sweden).
September 26, 2008
Sidney Crosby, who sat out the Penguins game on Wednesday due to a sore groin, will be in the lineup on Friday night, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

September 24, 2008
Sidney Crosby sat out Wednesday night's exhibition with Toronto because of a groin injury according to the AP.

Our View:The injury is not considered serious and Crosby could be back in action as early as Friday.
September 24, 2008
Sidney Crosby looks to get ice time on the penalty-killing unit this season according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In the 5-4 shootout loss Saturday, he was explosive while killing penalties. He pounced on a turnover by Tampa Bay top prospect Steven Stamkos to score an unassisted short-handed goal at 17:07 of the third period for a short-lived lead. Earlier, after losing a faceoff against Jussi Jokinen in the Penguins' end, Crosby bowled Jokinen over, blocked a shot and raced the other way with the puck before goaltender Karri Ramo made a glove save on him.

Our View:Crosby has not been a regular penalty-killer in his career. He played some short-handed last season, mostly in the waning seconds of opponents' power plays. The more ice time he gets, the more points he will put up making him one of the most attractive players in all the NHL.
September 11, 2008
Sidney Crosby will live with Mario Lemieux again this season, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In fantasy related news, Crosby says that his injured ankle is back at 100%. "No issues there," Crosby said. "Hopefully, I don't have to deal with it and I can have a healthy season."

Our View:Will someone pay this guy enough money so that he can afford his own place? If Crosby can stay healthy for 80 games, he will be a threat to the 120-point barrier and almost certainly push for the league's scoring crown. If he isn't a top-3 selection in every draft, your league must be operating in the twilight zone.
September 4, 2008
Nova Scotia is proud of one of their own, Penguins center Sidney Crosby, and they let him know it by awarding him with the Order of Nova Scotia, which is given to those who have made significant contributions to the area, according to the Canadian Press.

Our View:Crosby would get an award from fantasy owners also, if there was that sort of thing. He put up 72 points last year in just 53 games, and could be the first player chosen in fantasy drafts across the land.
August 28, 2008
The Penguins have lost Ryan Whitney to injury (foot) and Ryan Malone and Marian Hossa to other teams. As a result the team will continue to rely on youngsters moving forward, according to NHL.com.

Our View:With the salary cap in place it's virtually impossible for teams to simply buy their way out of trouble, meaning that developing talent is the key to long-term success. With the Pens, names like Keven Veilleux, Luca Caputi, Alex Goligoski and Carl Sneep could make an appearance in the NHL this season.
July 18, 2008
Pittsburgh head coach Michel Therrien has received a new three-year contract after leading Sidney Crosby and the rest of the Penguins to the Stanley Cup Finals, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Therrien gets to coach Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, which certainly makes his job easier. Still, he gets the most out of their talent and now gets the opportunity to continue to do so for the next three seasons.
July 4, 2008
The Pittsburgh Penguins are making an attempt to sign Finnish free agent Janne Pesonen, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He had 34 goals and 44 assists in 56 games with Karpat in Finland's Elite League a year ago.

Our View:The numbers speak well for his potential, and if the 26-year-old can see some minutes with Crosby or Malkin, he has potential value in fantasy leagues next season.
May 31, 2008
Sidney Crosby chipped in an assist in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Red Wings in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Our View:That was his first assist and third point over the four games in the Finals, and it was a disappointing series for him and Pittsburgh, as Detroit has the title within their grasp with 3-1 lead.
May 28, 2008
Sidney Crosby scored a pair of goals to lead the Penguins to a 3-2 win over the Red Wings in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Our View:Sid scored the first two goals of the game, which were also the first two the Pens have scored this series. This was a must-have game for Pittsburgh, and their best player came through for them when they desperately need him to.
May 26, 2008
The Pens, who are scoreless in the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals, have not received any production from their 20-year old captain. Sidney Crosby has struggled against Detroit's experienced top line of Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom. The young center showed his frustration as the television networks flashed shots of the Pens bench on several occasions during the broadcast.

Our View:The two longest shutout streaks in the Finals are 188:35 by Toronto's Frank McCool against Detroit in 1945, and 166:03 by Osgood's backup Dominik Hasek, who did it against Carolina in 2002 -- the last time the Red Wings won the Cup.
May 25, 2008
It appears the Pittsburgh Penguins will be making changes, hopeful of enticing different results in their Stanley Cup Finals matchup against the Detroit Red Wings, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Penguins coach Michel Therrien had his team hit the ice on Sunday with all-new lines in an effort to encourage a cohesive, team approach. Ryan Malone has replaced Pascal Dupuis on Sidney Crosby's line, moving to play with Jordan Staal. Veteran forward Gary Roberts will also be seeing more ice time. The Pens have struggled to work past future Hall-of-Fame defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom and Chris Chelios, and these changes may encourage a different approach.
May 13, 2008
Sidney Crosby had two assists to lead his Penguins to within one game of the Stanley Cup Finals on Tuesday night in the Penguins first victory in Philadelphia in five tries this season.

Our View:Crosby is going wild with 19 points in 12 playoff games, but that's hardly a surprise for one of the leagues most gifted players. He will likely get a chance to skate for his first Cup against the Red Wings next week.
May 12, 2008
Sidney Crosby registered a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Flyers in Game 2. He has scored a goal in both games against the Flyers, and helped lead Pittsburgh to a 2-0 lead in the series.

Our View:He has four goals and 13 assists over 11 games in the playoffs, and led Pittsburgh one step closer to the NHL Finals on Sunday.
May 10, 2008
Sidney Crosby scored a goal in Friday's 4-2 win against the Flyers in Game 1. He went five straight games without a goal, and ended the slump at exactly the right time.

Our View:Crosby has three goals and 12 assists through the playoffs, and helped guide Pittsburgh to a 1-0 lead in the series against Philadelphia.
May 5, 2008
Sidney Crosby helped close out the series for the Penguins, as he dished out two assists in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rangers in Game 5. Crosby did not score a goal in the series against New York, but he chipped in six assists.

Our View:Crosby racked up 14 points through nine playoff games this season.
April 29, 2008
The Pens have taken a dominating 3-0 series lead over the New York Rangers in their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series and the team's top offensive talents are all doing their part to contribute. Center Sidney Crosby , winger Petr Sykora, and defenseman Sergei Gonchar all posted two assists in tonight's 5-3 win over the Rangers, and now they hope to close it out with a sweep in Game 4.

Our View:Gonchar now has three helpers in his last two games while Sykora has been a goal scorer (4) rather than an assist man, these being his first two helpers of the postseason. However, it has been Crosby getting it done by making his teammates better. These two assists tonight give Crosby TEN assists through seven playoff games, an outstanding effort for the young superstar.
April 27, 2008
It appears the New York Rangers are enjoying the swirl of drama they have created around Pittsburgh phenom Sidney Crosby , according to SLAM Sports. Pittsburgh coach Michel Therrien hit the team's post-practice new conference yesterday and waxed poetic about his frustrations surrounding what he perceives to be blatant attempts to bash the team's young star. "Enough is enough. That's enough!" Therrian proclaimed, pointing to allegations supposedly made by New York coach Tom Renney and some Ranger players that claim Crosby is intentionally diving and flailing in an attempt to draw penalties. Several of the New York players hinted at such beliefs following the the first game of this series on Friday night, culminating on the ice in a series of events in Game 2 add to the controversy.

Our View:With the game tied 4-4 late in the 3rd period, New York winger Martin Straka was flagged for an interference penalty as he attempted to keep Crosby in check down the right wing, resulting in Crosby falling to the ice. With Straka in the box, Crosby put a pass off the stick of Pittsburgh winger Evgeni Malkin for the game-winning goal. Straka left the box, got right in the face of the ref, and let his displeasure with the call be known, resulting in a game misconduct. Now we have the tone of hate this series needs to step up and capture our attention as a top hockey playoff to watch. Enjoy.
April 17, 2008
Sidney Crosby was named the Second Star of Wednesday night, as he chipped in one goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Ottawa, according to NHL.com. The Penguins swept the Senators in the first round, and Crosby scored eight points in the series.

Our View:Crosby should remain a dominant force for Pittsburgh through the playoffs.
April 14, 2008
Sidney Crosby followed up his four-assist outing with a one-goal, one-helper showing in Monday's 4-1 win over the Senators.

Our View:We hear wonderful things about this Crosby youngster.
April 11, 2008
Sidney Crosby failed to record a goal on Friday but that was of little concern as he dished out four helpers in the Pens 5-3 victory over the Senators. Sid the Kid was flying on this night and he appears fully recovered from the ankle injury that hampered him most of the second half of the season.
April 10, 2008
Sidney Crosby's ankle is 100%, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Coach Therrion noted that his injured ankle is strong again, and commented, "Ottawa is going to try to play Crosby physically, there's no doubt." Crosby added, "There's not much I can do if somebody's going to go after my ankle. It's pretty much out of my control. Hopefully, it doesn't happen." Crosby scored 72 points over 53 games this season, and Ottawa will have their hands full with him in the first round for sure.
April 9, 2008
Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and the rest of the Pittsburgh Penguins host the injury-riddled Ottawa Senators in the 2-7 match-up tonight. The Senators limp into tonight's Game 1 missing three key players: Captain Daniel Alfredsson (knee/head) and centers Mike Fisher (knee) and Chris Kelly (leg). Therefore, Ottawa's lineup will have a makeshift look to kick things off. Martin Gerber will get the starting nod between the pipes and in a nutshell, few give the Sens a chance tonight. They are simply too damaged and have more in-house turmoil than Big Brother.
April 6, 2008

Fantasy owners should obviously use him.

March 20, 2008
Sidney Crosby could miss the next two games, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Crosby continues to be slowed by the high ankle sprain that he sustained January 18, and is expected to miss the next two games of action. Therrion stated, "He's not going to play this weekend. He's going to be on the ice today, with the conditioning coach Mike Kadar. That's the first step. He has to go through the weekend, skating, and we'll see how he feels before deciding if Crosby will play in either of those games." The team also mentioned that Crosby will not be rushed back into action.
March 14, 2008
Still dealing with soreness in his high-ankle sprain, Sidney Crosby will sit out at least the next three games, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I'm just going to take a week here to give it more time to rest," Crosby said. "It's just one of those nagging things. I know what's coming up in the future, and I want to make sure I give it the best possible chance to be strong." The Pens only real goal with Crosby is to be sure he's fully healthy come playoff time, so they'll give him a little extra time off and hope he's ready to hit the ice in about a week.
March 13, 2008
Sidney Crosby sat out Wednesday's game versus the Sabres after he felt pain in his right ankle during a Wednesday morning skate. It is the same ankle that caused him to miss a quarter of the season (21 games). Crosby is not expected to be rushed and the team considers their young star day-to-day.

March 4, 2008
Sidney Crosby didn't start in his return to action Tuesday, but he did finish well. Crosby picked up an assist on the first goal of the game with just 2:47 remaining. February 26, 2008
Sidney Crosby will not return to the lineup this week, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Sid had planned to resume skating last Friday but didn't end up doing so. He does plan on skating this week. "The purpose of skating was to stay in shape," he said. "Obviously, I knew at some point that I wasn't going to be playing within the next week or so. For me to skate for a month before I was going to be back would be pretty useless, wearing myself out for no reason. I just realized it's going to be a while. I just have to be patient and not waste energy every day." Hopefully Crosby will be ready to return in a week or so.
February 24, 2008
Sidney Crosby again did not skate Saturday and will not do so Sunday, either, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He was supposed to resume skating Friday after taking a few days off to rest his ankle, so this is becoming a little concerning. February 18, 2008
Sidney Crosby had his best practice since injuring his ankle as he skated at full speed on Monday according to a report on NHL.com. "I'm probably more comfortable on the ice because I've been out there a little bit longer now, but other than that there hasn't been a huge improvement at this point," said Crosby. The team has still not announced a firm date for his return, it certainly won't happen on Tuesday, but it appears that Crosby is well on schedule to return within the the next 10 or so days as originally estimated.
February 17, 2008

Sidney Crosby returned to practice with the Penguins on Friday, almost three weeks after spraining his ankle in a crash into the boards, according to the AP. Crosby was originally expected to be out six to eight weeks. He has not revised that timetable and has no firm target date for returning. "If you want a prediction, it's not going to happen," Crosby said. "It's the most frustrating thing to really go through, because two days you can feel pretty good and one day you can wake up and it's sore. Your body needs to heal and that's the way I have to approach it."
January 22, 2008
The Penguins will be without Sidney Crosby for up to eight weeks with a high right ankle sprain, according to the AP. The team officially placed him on injured reserve retroactive to Friday.

Our View:This is a tough break for Crosby owners, who will be without their star player for at least six weeks. There’s no way you can replace Crosby in your lineup, but his move to the IR at least gives you the flexibility to add another player.
January 20, 2008
There is no timetable for Sidney Crosby (ankle) to return to the lineup, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. It likely won't be until he undergoes a thorough examination early this week. Although Crosby was checked by the team's training staff in Pittsburgh Saturday, a complete examination won't be done until the swelling in his right ankle subsides.
January 18, 2008
