August 16, 2008 Kicker Brandon Coutu made a strong case for a starting job on Saturday night. He made all five of his field goal attempts against the Bears, including a game-winning 36-yard shot in overtime. Two of the rookie's kicks came from beyond 45 yards (46, 48). Our View:Coutu is battling veteran Olindo Mare for the starting job, and the youngster likely closed any gap with his effort on Saturday. There's a potential for decent fantasy value if one guy can seize the job. |

June 26, 2008 The Seattle Seahawks have signed kicker Brandon Coutu to a multi-year deal, according to the Our View:Coutu was selected by Seattle with the second of their two seventh round picks (235th overall) in this year’s NFL Draft. He will compete with veteran Olindo Mare for the right to replace Josh Brown as the Seahawks' kicker in 2008. |
