Brandon Marshall's arraignment in his court case for a traffic violation has been puched back to August 12, according to the Denver Post. He was ticketed for making an illegal lane change, and was stopped on northbound Interstate 25 between Broadway and Santa Fe Drive after allegedly driving his Hummer H2 on the shoulder to pass two cars. He was also ticketed for not having his driver's license or proof of insurance with him.

Our View:The hearing was originally scheduled for July 24, which is the same day players are to report to the Broncos' training camp.
July 11, 2008
Broncos' coach Mike Shanahan defended Brandon Marshall and believes he can avoid trouble in the future, according to the Denver Post. Shanahan commented, "I can’t go into great detail, for obvious reasons, but Brandon has a good upside and he is a really good kid. I feel very good where Brandon’s at. I think he’ll be fine."

Our View:Marshall will remain on the radar of commissioner Roger Goodell, but it is still encouraging that he hasn't lost the support of coach Shanahan.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has noted concerns about the growing legal problems for Denver receiver Brandon Marshall , reporting he will be keeping a close eye on the progress of his trial for DUI scheduled to commence on September 16th, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Marshall has been arrested and charged with a multitude of misgivings this offseason, including the DUI, an alleged assault of his girlfriend, and various moving violations as a driver. If he is found guilty of the DUI, you can be he will become the latest in a growing line of players fined and/or suspended under the league's new player conduct guidelines. There have been more than a few players that have received substantial fines and suspensions as a result of off-the-field mistakes, and Marshall has given the league more than a few reasons to target him as the next to join that list. We'll keep you posted.

The Denver Post reports that Brandon Marshall was ticketed on June 12 for making an illegal lane change, according to Denver County Court records. Marshall was stopped on northbound Interstate-25 between Broadway and Santa Fe Drive and was also ticketed for not having his driver's license or proof of insurance.

Our View:Marshall is scheduled to be arraigned on July 24, according to the records.

Brandon Marshall was arrested in March for assaulting his girlfriend, but there have been past incidents, according to the Denver Post. The newspaper says they have received reports that Marshall previously "punched his girlfriend, cut her leg with a knife and threw a rock at a car in which she was a passenger."

Our View:These are not new incidents, as the paper claims there has been eight incidents and 12 police reports written concerning domestic disputes since June of 2006. With Marshall's history now coming to the forefront, it would not be surprising if Roger Goodell decided to implement some form of discipline.
June 28, 2008
Denver wideout Brandon Marshall has been granted full clearance to take part in all team activities for the week ahead and sources indicate he is already working with quarterback Jay Cutler on routes and timing, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View:Marshall's offseason has been a disaster, but getting the worries of his injured hand out of the way will mean much to creating a positive momentum moving towards training camp. His recent arrest for the alleged assault against his girlfriend looms, but it appears his work on the field is getting underway. Marshall was reportedly catching passes one-handed with his surgically repaired arm and caught any variety of passes. The nerve damage doesn't appear to be lasting.

ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that the attorney of Brandon Marshall's ex-girlfriend says the Broncos wide receiver is lying when he claims that his March arrest was part of a “shakedown” attempt. “His story that he has been a victim is as pathetic as the story that he slipped on a McDonald’s bag and injured his arm,” said David McGill, a lawyer for Marshall’s ex-girlfriend Rasheedah Watley. “Hopefully, he will be as eager to tell his story in a court of law, under oath, as he has been in the media.”

Our View:Marshall was arrested on March 6 because, an Atlanta Police Department report says, Watley told police Marshall “threw her on the bed, grasped her head with his hand and began to slap her.” Marshall says the only physical altercation was when Watley’s sisters attacked him. Is it just us, or is there more off-field NFL player news this summer than in past summers?
June 26, 2008
The fight that led to receiver Brandon Marshall's March 6 arrest ended when his hand was cut by a piece of glass at his downtown condominium, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:According to an Atlanta Police Department incident report, Marshall was bleeding from his hand when officers arrived at his home on March 4. He told police that two sisters of his girlfriend, Rasheedah Watley, had attacked him and that "he had been cut on glass during the fight," according to the report. He refused treatment at the scene.

The NFL is looking into the March 6 arrest of Denver wide receiver Brandon Marshall on a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly hitting his girlfriend, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed the inquiry but declined to comment further.

Our View:The incident occurred in Fulton County, Ga., where authorities say no formal charges have been filed. Marshall's girlfriend filed an affidavit in Fulton County claiming Marshall hit her in the mouth and eye on March 4. Marshall, who is scheduled for trial in September on a previous DUI charge, could face the wrath of commissioner Roger Goodell, if he's convicted in either case.
June 25, 2008
ESPN speculates that troubled wide receiver Brandon Marshall will be suspended for at least a game or two if he is convicted at his drunken driving trial, which is set to take place in September.

Our View:Marshall has been arrested three times in the past 12 months, and his off-the-field exploits have garnered far more attention than anything he has done on the field this offseason.
June 25, 2008
Wide receiver Brandon Marshall was arrested March 6 in Atlanta on a misdemeanor battery charge, his third arrest in 12 months and second involving a domestic dispute, according to the Denver Post. Marshall, who was in Atlanta training with Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler and tight end Tony Scheffler at the time, was booked into the Fulton County Jail on March 6. He was released on March 7 after appearing before a judge and posting a $1,000 cash bond.

Our View:Marshall could be suspended by the NFL under its Personal Conduct Policy because of multiple arrests and alleged incidents. He also was charged with driving under the influence in October 2007 and is set to go to trial in September on that charge. A previous domestic-violence charge, from an arrest in March 2007, has been dismissed.
June 23, 2008
Brandon Marshall, who is recovering from his arm injury, made an appearance at the Broncos' practice facility today, where he lifted weights and did some running, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:He is progressing nicely and should be ready to participate at the beginning of training camp.
June 18, 2008
Brandon Marshall's DUI trial was set to begin on Wednesday, but the proceedings have been pushed back to September 16, the Denver Post reports. The charges stem from an October 22 arrest. Marshall pleaded not guilty on December 18.

Our View:The new date is two days after the Broncos face the Chargers at home, so that should work out for Marshall. And, heck, if it doesn't, why not just push it back again? If the legal system is willing to wait a year after the arrest, why not two or three years?
June 13, 2008
There remains some weakness in the right forearm and the nerve damage is not totally repaired, but whatever confidence receiver Brandon Marshall may have lost since he accidentally severed his forearm on Easter eve is all back, according to the Denver Post. "I'm still going to catch 100 balls this year," Marshall said following the conclusion of the Broncos' offseason mini-camps Thursday.

Our View:Marshall posted 102 receptions, 1,325 yards and seven scores last year. If he can keep his name off the police blotter and get healthy, 100 catches is a realistic goal for the talented youngster.
June 12, 2008
Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall ran routes with teammates to open camp Wednesday morning and caught a few passes with his right hand, according to the Denver Post. This is news because Marshall hasn’t used that hand (at least not during the practices that have been open to the media) since he underwent surgery to repair severe lacerations in his right forearm during March.

Our View:Marshall wasn’t gripping the ball tightly with his right hand as he caught the long passes, but he was using the injured arm to cradle the ball - something he wasn’t doing last week when he was spotted catching a pass with only his left hand. From the sound of this report, Marshall is progressing nicely towards participation in training camp.
May 30, 2008
Brandon Marshall is the unquestioned No. 1 receiver in Denver, this according to the Rocky Mountain News. He continues to rehabilitate his right forearm after surgery and will begin catching passes in a few weeks.

Our View:There are many that don't buy into Marshall's 1325 yards from a year ago, but with Brandon Stokley unable to stay healthy and Rod Smith now in the Broncos' front office, there is little (absent his health) stopping him from repeating his 2007 numbers.
May 20, 2008
Coach Mike Shanahan is certain Brandon Marshall will be ready for training camp, according to the Rocky Mountain News. He is recovering from arm surgery and Shanahan said, "June 22 will be the first day he'll be able to catch the football, so that will give us plenty of time, obviously, before our summer ball. He's running routes like he normally would. So for him to be able to do that at this time, barring any setback, he should be able to go full speed."

Our View:Marshall noted that his recovery is going well. This is good news, as Marshall emerged as one of the top young receivers in the NFL in 2007 with 102 receptions for 1325 yards and seven touchdowns.
May 19, 2008
Receiver Brandon Marshall will continue to be held out of practice as he continues to recover from injuries and surgery to his right forearm suffered in a horseplay incident with his brother at a Florida resort in March, this according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View:The extent of his participation in team and position meetings.
May 2, 2008
The Denver Broncos won't know for sure until shortly before training camp if wide receiver Brandon Marshall will be fully recovered from his right forearm injury, according to ESPN. Marshall has nerve damage in his right forearm as a result of a fall through a glass entertainment center while horse playing with family members in March. The team thinks and hopes Marshall will be fine, but when there is nerve damage, there are no guarantees.

Our View:Marshall is obviously a promising young player, who will likely be ranked in the top 15 or so at his position this year. This story will continue to grow legs as the offseason progresses, and we will stay on top of the latest information as it becomes available.
April 7, 2008
Brandon Marshall had the cast removed from his right arm over the weekend. "The doctor said it looks good," Marshall tells the Denver Post. "All we have to do now is wait for the artery to come around, but everything else is healing well." He will remain in a sling for another four weeks and then begin rehab. Marshall hopes to be ready for training camp.
March 28, 2008
Denver Broncos star wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who keeps finding his name in negative news reports, insisted Thursday he's really a good guy who just needs to grow up, according to the Sporting News. "Being truthful, it is time for me to grow up on and off the field," Marshall said Thursday. "I'm not just a guy that's on the team, I'm a starter and have a lot of responsibility on this team. We have goals that we're trying to reach, and I play a big role in that." It was Marshall's first extensive public comments since his latest misstep, a freak accident that landed him in the operating room for surgery on his right arm and called into question his maturity level again.
March 26, 2008
The Denver Broncos have made their first public comments on star receiver Brandon Marshall’s recent arm injury, according to FOX Sports. In the statement, Broncos’ head athletic trainer Steve Antonopulos confirmed reports that Marshall sustained right forearm lacerations to one artery, one vein, one nerve, two tendons and three muscles. "All have been repaired, and his right forearm and elbow will be immobilized for six weeks," Antonopulos said. "Rehabilitation will begin in six weeks. Full recovery is expected to take three to four months." This timeline means Marshall should be ready to resume football activities in time for the start of training camp in late July.
March 25, 2008
Brandon Marshall has an injured right arm and he could take several months to recover, according to ESPN. In a story published Monday, Marshall told the Rocky Mountain News he had slipped on a fast-food bag while vacationing at a resort with his mother, father and siblings. He said there was nothing more to read into it than that and described his injury as "a little cut on my arm." The latest update makes the injury sound much more serious. The NFL Network reported Monday night, citing no sources, that Marshall had severed an artery, a vein and a nerve in his forearm along with tendons to five muscles. Marshall underwent surgery this past weekend and will be in a cast for two weeks, then a splint for a month, but he will be ready for training camp.
March 24, 2008
A jury trial was postponed today for Brandon Marshall, the Denver Broncos wide receiver who stands accused of driving under the influence, according to the Denver Post. A new trial date was set for June in Denver District Court after Marshall's attorney asked for a delay. Marshall was arrested in lower downtown on Oct. 22, 2007 on suspicion of drunken driving, just hours after he caught six passes for 77 yards in the Broncos 31-28 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Invesco Field at Mile High.
March 23, 2008
Brandon Marshall slipped on a McDonald's wrapper, which resulted in his arm going through the television set, according to NFL.com. It is unclear as to how many stitches Marshall needed and he commented, "I want to thank everybody for their concerns and let everyone know that I'm okay. It's funny because I pride myself on yards after catch and being one of the toughest players to take down once I have the ball in my hands. So for the next couple of days I'm going to take the time to build my confidence back up after allowing that McDonalds bag to take me down and send me through the entertainment center." His excuse is good enough for us.
March 23, 2008
Brandon Marshall slipped and fell at his home on Saturday and struck his arm through a television set, according to Adam Schefter of NFLNetwork. Marshall was treated and released at a local hospital, after receiving stitches in his arm.
