David Garrard has said that he wants to target tight end Marcedes Lewis more often this season, according to the Florida Times Union. "Whenever we talk about catching and receivers, we always talk about receivers. It's something quarterbacks do unless a guy stands out, and he [Lewis] can be that guy," Garrard said. "He can become of those tight ends that are tops in the league. He's a great talent, big size, big target for me to throw to, and we need to make sure we are on the same page. This is something that both of us just have to take to a new level because tight ends are usually my favorite targets."

Our View:Lewis is entering his third season and has three career touchdowns. Garrard is right in calling him a big target. He comes in at 6-foot-6 and 265 pounds. We like his chances to come on with a big year and be a consistent red zone target. Lewis said he's never made the kind of immediate connection with a quarterback the way he did with Garrard. Don't consider him a top-12 guy just yet, but he is an intriguing sleeper.

Marcedes Lewis (knee) participated in practice for the first time this spring, according to Jaguars.com.

Our View:The team has been hush after Lewis was reportedly held out of organized team activities. A knee injury that no one seems to know much about.

The knee injury that Marcedes Lewis sustained was reported to be a sprain, according to Jaguars.com.

Our View:It remains undisclosed when exactly the injury occured. The severity of the ailment is not known either, other than it is a sprain. Hopefully it is minor, and won't linger into training camp.

Marcedes Lewis remains out of practice. He hasn't participated in any of the activities this spring as he recovers from a knee injury, the Florida Times-Union reports.

Our View:Lewis is heading into his third year and has shown signs of being a productive fantasy tight end. We're not too worried about him missing time in May, but his stock will drop if he starts to look questionable for training camp.

With four capable tight ends in training camp, the Jaguars are trying to sort out who will be the starter. Thus far, it appears that Marcedes Lewis has the edge over Jermaine Wiggins, Greg Estandia and George Wrighster. "I think Marcedes has started over the last three days to separate himself,” assistant head coach Mike Tice told the Florida Times-Union. “He's stronger than Greg. He's got tremendous confidence in himself, and he's a big rangy target. He's shown better quickness this year than last year, and he's more explosive. After Marcedes, it's a battle."

Our View:Without proven commodities at wide receiver, a Jaguars tight end could prove to be useful to fantasy owners as long as one establishes himself as the full-time starter. Lewis is a first-round draft choice and thought to have the highest upside, so he’s who fantasy owners should be pulling for.
