Derek Anderson is working on improving his mobility, which is viewed as the weakest part of his game, according to ESPN. Anderson is currently working out at a SPARQ (speed, power, agility, reaction, quickness) training facility in Oregon, that focuses on improving his mobility.

Our View:Second-year OC Rob Chudzinski is installing more rollouts and screens into the Browns' playbook this season to give opposing defenses different looks. That will require Anderson, who is a traditional pocket passer, to be more fleet of foot to execute the additional plays. He was only sacked 14 times in 2007, and that number could potentially decrease even lower this season.

The Cleveland Browns and general manager Phil Savage agreed to a three-year contract extension that will keep Savage with the team through 2012, according to ESPN. "I am extremely grateful to [owner] Randy Lerner and the Browns' organization for giving me an opportunity as a first time general manager back in January 2005 and now to continue with this extension through the 2012 season," said Savage in a statement. "We have worked very hard to turn the Browns around, on and off the field, and our team is looking forward to the 2008 season."

Our View:Savage joins head coach Romeo Crennel and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski among Browns to get contract extensions this offseason.

General manager Phil Savage threw some ice water on the possibility of the Cleveland Browns trading up into the first day of the 2008 NFL Draft, according to Akron Beacon Journal. ''At least in my mind, I think we've operated that we've kind of shut the door on the first day of the draft,'' Savage said. The Browns do not have first-, second- or third-round picks as a result of trades for quarterback Brady Quinn and defensive tackles Corey Williams and Shaun Rogers. Savage said the most exciting thing the Browns might do is trade up a couple of slots in the fourth round, though his track record does not totally dismiss the possibility of making a deal.

Romeo Crennel reiterated there is competition at every position, including quarterback, at this year's training camp, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. On the flip side, general manager Phil Savage clarified those remarks: "The reality is you don't give a guy $8 million and expect him to be in an open competition," Savage said of incumbent starter Derek Anderson. "He would have to play really poorly and Brady (Quinn) would have to play lights out (to beat him out)." Translation: It would make me look really bad if Brady Quinn was the starter in 2008, after I just handed a boatload of money to Derek Anderson.

The contract that Derek Anderson has agreed to with the Browns will pay him at least $24 million, with $2 million more in incentives and $13.5 million to $14.5 million guaranteed over the next three years, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. GM Phil Savage stressed Friday that Anderson will start for the Browns in 2008 and will not be traded. That means that Brady Quinn will continue to work in a reserve role for the foreseeable future.
