Channing Crowder has learned from one of the best over the past few years playing next to Zach Thomas. Now that Thomas has been shipped to the Dallas Cowboys Crowder will move over and take the spot of his mentor. According to the Sun Sentinel Crowder still gets advice from his ex-teammate.

Our View:Crowder has started the second most games on the Dolphins defense over the past few years behind Vonnie Holliday and has been one of the top tacklers in the league.

The Dolphins team website reports that coach Tony Sparano made a point to say how excited he was about the way linebacker Channing Crowder has been moving around in light of the fact that he's coming back from injuries to his ankle and knee. He also recalled game-planning against the Dolphins last year when he was with the Dallas Cowboys and how he and his staff made it a point to make sure Crowder was one of the players that definitely had to be blocked because he makes plays around the ball.

Our View:Crowder appeared in 11 games last season and battled through nagging injuries most of the season. He will record more tackles than any other Dolphin this season and, optimistically, may approach the 120-tackle mark making him worth consideration in IDP leagues. He does not figure to get many sacks or interceptions, though.

Linebacker Channing Crowder could be in line for a long-term deal from the Dolphins if he plays well and stays healthy, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Crowder only played in 11 games last year, collecting 77 tackles. He is a decent option in IDP fantasy leagues, but more sacks would certainly help raise his value.

Channing Crowder, who is recovering from knee surgery, guarantees that he will be ready for the start of training camp, according to the Sun Sentinel. Crowder is participating in conditioning and individual drills on a limited basis. He said, "I could participate fully now, but they have to clear me. I think in the next couple of weeks they will, and I'll be fine."

Our View:Crowder led the Dolphins with 77 tackles (60 solo) in 2007. While he recovers, the acting starters on the inside in the Dolphins' 3-4 system are Reggie Torbor and Akin Ayodele.

The new Dolphins' regime reportedly likes Channing Crowder and his agent is believed to approach the team shortly regarding an extension, according to the Miami Herald. Crowder is athletic with good size (6-2 245 pounds) and fits the Dolphins as a prototype for the linebacker position. Crowder has not yet been cleared for full contact work after knee surgery, but he wants to make a bigger impact as a play-maker this season, and looks to improve on his 0.5 sacks in 2007, with no fumble recoveries. He also wants to be the leader of the Dolphins' defense following the departure of Zach Thomas, and possible exit of Jason Taylor.

Our View:Crowder can become an unrestricted free agent next spring, and led the Dolphins with 77 tackles (60 solo) in 2007.
