Newsbreakers
November 13, 2008
Wes Welker continues to be Matt Cassel's favorite target, as he finished with 108 yards on seven receptions on Thursday night.

Our View:Welker has still just scored one touchdown through the Pats' first 10 games, but has been getting enough touches to still be productive in fantasy.
November 9, 2008
Wide receiver Wes Welker caught 10 passes for 107 yards in the Week 10 win over the Bills. He set a record by becoming the first player in NFL history to open a season with six or more catches in nine straight games.

Our View:Welker is a PPR machine who is on pace for 117 receptions, but he still has only one touchdown. Fantasy owners would certainly trade some of those catches for more end zone visits.
October 20, 2008
Wide receiver Wes Welker caught six passes for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Week 7 win over the Broncos. That is his first touchdown of the year.

Our View:Welker still doesn't have a 75-yard outing, but he remains a solid play in PPR formats.

September 5, 2008
Wes Welker remains secretive regarding the status of his rib injury, according to the Boston Globe. He did not give a straight answer when asked about his injury and his pain level, and simply stated, "I'm just excited to be out there. I'm excited to get out there and compete a little bit and have a little fun with it."

Our View:Welker should be active in fantasy lineups Sunday, but it remains a mystery as to how much action he is expected to see due to the ailment.
August 31, 2008
Wide receiver Wes Welker returned to practice on Sunday, the Boston Globe reports. Welker injured his ribcage in the third preseason game. Sunday's action included stretching, agility drills, and light pass-catching.

Our View:This news doesn't firm up Welker's status for Week 1, but it helps. Bill Belichick would be crafty enough to let a guy like Welker run around for the media-portion of practice, only to hold him out on a Sunday.
August 22, 2008
Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker suffered an injury to his ribcage and will likely not return to the team's game against the Eagles, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View:Welker had been dealing with a groin injury early in camp, so this is yet another malady for him to deal with.
August 5, 2008
Wide receiver Wes Welker opened training camp on the PUP list due to a groin injury, the Providence Journal reports. He was taken off the list over the weekend, but previous sources failed to reveal the ailment

Our View:ProJo writer Robert Lee might be fined for this work. Doesn't he know that Bill Belichick's rule is that the local papers don't ask about and don't reveal injuries?
August 2, 2008
Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker was taken off the phycially-unable-to-perform list today, according to the Providence Journal.

Our View:Welker is being counted on to be a big part of fantasy teams, so his return is welcome news.
July 24, 2008
Wes Welker will open training camp on the PUP list according to the Boston Globe. It is unknown what injury he is suffering from.

Our View:This is an intriguing development, as there have been no reports on Welker regarding an injury. We'll keep a close eye on the situation, but for now avoid Welker.
June 8, 2008
New England receiver Wes Welker had been missing practice but arrived for minicamp on Sunday, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:The team and Welker have not addressed the situation, giving no reason for the absence. Fans can ease their worries for he has arrived and is set to take part in preparations for the season.
