Jabar Gaffney is an entrenched starter for the 2008 season, according to the Sporting News. He was clutch down the stretch for New England last season as he scored five touchdowns, and he will join Randy Moss and Wes Welker as their three starting wides.

Jabar Gaffney has come to terms with the New England Patriots, signing a one-year agreement for $2 million, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network. With Randy Moss re-signed, the bulk of the problems were avoided. However, keeping Gaffney insures the team will have depth at the position and gives the Pats another proven deep threat to match the efforts of Moss and Wes Welker.

Despite the Patriots having already clinched the top seed in the AFC playoffs, Bill Belichick is preparing for Week 16 like any other week. According to the Boston Globe, the team practiced in full pads on Wednesday for the first time in weeks and Belichick has no plans to rest his regulars over the final two games. "I think that's a conversation you can have, and the fans can have, but it's not really part of our approach to the game," he said. "I don't think it's a good one to have. I don't really understand it, either. You're going to pick out one guy that is important and say somebody else isn't? I don't think that's a good way to manage a football team." In a similar situation two years ago (i.e. when they were locked into their playoff spot), Brady played just one quarter and many of the starters were yanked early in a Week 17 loss to the Dolphins, but we'd only worry about Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Wes Welker for Week 17, which shouldn't matter since your championship game should be happening this week. With Moss and Brady both approaching several single-season NFL statistical records, we fully expect them to play the entire game against the Dolphins this week.
