J.R. Reed has been released by the Eagles to make room for fullback Kyle Eckel on the roster, according to the AP.

Our View:Reed was merely adequate as a backup defensive back, and was cut while failing to make a quick recovery from a strained hamstring.

J.R. Reed suffered a strained hamstring during Sunday's loss to Washington, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:The severity of the ailment is yet to be determined. He is not a solid safety, and holds no fantasy value as a reserve.

J.R. Reed has agreed to a 1- year contract with the Eagles on Thursday, though terms were not announced, this according to the AP. The team also signed CB Joselio Hanson to a 1-year deal. Reed started only three of 15 games last season, and given the fact that he didn't intercept a pass or force a fumble, he isn't worth rostering in any fantasy league.
September 5, 2006
The Rams signed J.R. Reed, who had been released by the Eagles, to a one-year deal Monday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Reed hasn't played in a game in over a year-and-a-half because of a cut on his knee that caused nerve damage. Reed will be the Rams kickoff returner and could also get some time as a backup safty. He averaged 23.1 yards on 33 return attempts in 2004.
