Niko Koutouvides has been moved from middle linebacker to the weak-side, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:He is backing up rookie Wesley Woodyard, and should continue to be ignored in IDP leagues.

Niko Koutouvides only made one tackle against Dallas Saturday, but is being viewed as a leader, according to the Denver Post. He looked confident (at middle linebacker) in leading the starters, and the unit responded by holding the Cowboys' first-team offense scoreless. DJ Williams commented, "He was great today. He's a natural leader, so having him in the huddle helps me out a lot."

Our View:This news will help in his bid to beat out Nate Webster for the starting job at middle linebacker. The battle between the two competitors remains tight.

The Denver Broncos paid Niko Koutouvides starter’s money when they signed him to a three-year, $7.5 million contract in March. Yet, he hasn’t pulled away in the race to become the starting middle linebacker, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Koutouvides is a career special teams player who has been sharing first team repetitions with Nate Webster, who manned the strong side last year. In May, head coach Mike Shanahan said Koutouvides was the favorite for the job, but it appears he hasn’t nailed it down yet. This will be another training camp battle to watch, as middle linebacker is a premium position in IDP leagues, and one of these players could emerge as a sleeper.

Niko Koutouvides will compete with Nate Webster for the starting job at middle linebacker, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Coach Mike Shanahan likes Koutouvides as the favorite for the job, and said, "I've watched him play for four years. I've watched him play in preseason. I think he brings a lot to the table. He's a guy that was either first or second or third in the NFL in special teams tackles. A guy who can tackle in the open field and plays the 'Mike' linebacker position. I like what we evaluated in the preseason. It gives us a lot of confidence that he'll come in and play well."

Our View:Koutouvides excelled on special teams, but was not given a chance to prove his worth as a middle linebacker in Seattle while stuck behind Lofa Tatupu on the depth chart. He could generate a lot of tackles if he wins the job in the middle with Denver this season, and his fantasy stock is on the rise.
