Despite a 27-day holdout during training camp, running back Steven Jackson says he’s ready to go when the St. Louis Rams open the season in Philadelphia on Sunday, according to the AP.

Our View:This is great news for fantasy owners who used a first round pick on Jackson. When he's on the field he is one of the best backs in the league. Start him as a RB1.

Coach Scott Linehan intends to give Steven Jackson a heavy workload in Week 1 against the Eagles, despite missing all of the preseason due to his contract holdout, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Linehan said, "We’ll use him; we’re not going to inactivate him. He’s going to be ready to go. We’ve really worked the conditioning level. He’s had one grueling week and had a lot of good snaps today." When asked by a reporter to project the number of carries for Jackson in the opener, Linehan sarcastically replied, "fifty."

Our View:This is good news for fantasy owners who took Jackson high in round 1.

The contract Rams runner Steven Jackson signed is worth six years and $44.805 million, but the final two seasons of it could be voided if he averages 1,200 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving in the first four years, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:If Jackson can stay healthy, those are certainly attainable numbers. Even without playing a preseason game, he remains a top selection in fantasy football drafts.

Steven Jackson didn't play on Thursday night, and in his place Lance Ball carried the ball 13 times for 70 yards and a score.

Our View:SJax should be good to go for Week 1 when the name of Ball will be all but forgotten.

Steven Jackson is asking for peace with the fans following his lengthy holdout, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Jackson said, "I do understand everyone has their own opinion. But I think if I can continue to play in the manner that I have in the previous four years, and stay healthy on the field, I think all will be forgiven. A lot of time, we're hard on our loved ones, and I consider my fans my loved ones. So some things I should take back. And I do apologize for my statements for being a little critical of them."

Our View:Last season Jackson set a personal goal of 2,500 total yards. This year he just hopes to lead the Rams to the playoffs, which would certainly get him back on the good side of the fans.
