Jets tight end Chris Baker signed a contract extension today, according to NFL.com. Baker had two years left on his current deal and with the extension, he added three years to the end of his contract.

Our View:Baker caught two passes in Week 1 for 34 yards but he is behind Dustin Keller on the Jets depth chart. Baker has no real fantasy value.

Chris Baker is listed as the starting tight end on the Jets depth chart despite just recently being activated from the PUP list, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:Bubba Franks is likely to start the team's first preseason game while Baker shakes the rust off. Rookie Dustin Keller could eventually challenge Baker for the starting spot.

Chris Baker has been activated from the PUP list, according to Newsday.

Our View:He is expected to be at practice Monday, and will compete with athletic rookie Dustin Keller for the starting gig at tight end.

Jets tight end Chris Baker tells reporters he is itching to get back on the practice field, feeling motivated to put the bad vibes of a troublesome offseason to rest, according to the New York Post. Unhappy with his contract and struggling with an injured back, Baker said today he's ready to start practicing whenever he's cleared. "I've told the strength coach that I feel great, I'm ready to go," Baker said today at training camp. "When they say, 'Okay, he's fully 100 percent, let's go,' then I'll go. Physically, I'm fine now and feel great."

Our View:It has been speculated Baker may have been put on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on the eve of training camp as punishment for his contract stance and vocal displeasure in the media. If he feels as good as he claims, he'll be on the field before long and we will see if he can find the game to reach new offensive production levels.

Chris Baker's back has landed him on the Jets phisically unable to perform list, according to KFFL.com.

Our View:Unhappy with the Jets, Baker has made it clear he wants out. If a trade doesn't happen soon, Baker's unhappiness could cause camp distractions.
