Newsbreakers
November 17, 2008
Safety John Lynch made his retirement official, and held a press conference to announce it, according to The Sports Network. "When I made my decision, I wanted it to be final, and it is," Lynch said.

Our View:Lynch is certainly a candidate for the Hall of Fame in a few years. It did not take him long to find work, as he has been hired by FOX to be a color analyst on their telecasts, starting this weekend.
November 14, 2008
John Lynch has decided to hang up his cleats after 15 seasons of NFL service, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:He has played in nine Pro Bowls and registered 1,277 career tackles (789 solo), 26 interceptions, and 13 sacks. He will officially announce his retirement Monday.
October 23, 2008
Though it is still a possibility later on, the New England have decided for now not to sign safety John Lynch, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Rodney Harrison is out for the year, and Lynch was in training camp with the team, so the move would make sense. But they promoted Antwain Spann from their practice squad, so no signing is imminent.
October 21, 2008
There is speculation that John Lynch may return to the Patriots after losing Rodney Harrison (torn quad) for the rest of the season, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View:There is a claim from an undisclosed source that Lynch has been spotted at Logan Airport in Boston. Lynch previously stated that he is not retired and is staying in shape. His fantasy value for IDP leagues would be low, but he would provide solid veteran leadership to a young Patriots' secondary.
October 15, 2008
Veteran John Lynch isn't retired and he is actively looking for a team to sign with, according to The Denver Post. "I'm not retired," Lynch said. "I'm staying in shape. I'm ready if a team calls."

Our View:Lynch could help a team if the right situation presented itself as he can still be an asset against the run.
