Suns sign F Barnes
Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Suns have come to terms on a one- year deal with free agent forward Matt Barnes.

Barnes averaged 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in 73 contests last season for the Warriors. The 28-year-old will suit up for his sixth NBA team in his seventh season, with career averages of 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game for the Clippers, Kings, Knicks, Sixers, and Warriors.

Newsbreakers
Goran Dragic, GFriday 9/5, 11:41 AM CT
The Suns envision point guard Goran Dragic playing around 18 minutes a game in 2008-09. "From what I see, I think he's got a great game and great potential," point guard Steve Nash informs the East Valley Tribune. "The difficult thing for him is that this is quite a change. The (NBA) game is different than Europe. The rules are different... Hopefully his experience and intelligence and feel for the game will allow him to adapt quickly, but we shouldn't put too much pressure on him."

Our View:Guys who play 18 minutes a game don't belong on fantasy teams. Dragic is going to spend the coming seasons learning everything possible from Nash, and we hope he can turn into a quality fantasy option once Steve's days in Phoenix are over.
Steve Nash, GThursday 9/4, 10:01 AM CT
The Phoenix Suns name is now even more appropriate, as the team will begin to use solar panels to help power up their arena, according to the Arizona Republic. Apparently, guard Steve Nash was the one who made a push for the team to do so.

Our View:In the realm of professional sports, the Suns now join the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Lakers as teams who also use solar power where they suit up.
Amare Stoudemire, FMonday 9/1, 11:33 AM CT
Amare Stoudemire went on a trip to Sierra Leone to help build water wells and try to improve the country's sanitation, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:This has little to do with fantasy basketball, other than knowing Stoudemire is healthy, but it is nice to see. The Suns forward is trying to improve the safety of drinking water and sanitation because so many in Sierra Leone die from it. According to ESPN.com, the average life expectancy in the country is 26 years.
