Pistons keep Herrmann
Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Pistons re-signed forward Walter Herrmann on Monday.

The 29-year-old came to the Pistons in December of 2007 with Primoz Brezec in a trade that sent Nazr Mohammed to the Charlotte Bobcats.

"We are pleased to re-sign Walter Herrmann," said president of basketball operations Joe Dumars. "Walter is a player with tremendous work ethic and showed last year that he is a player that can contribute to this team."

Last season in 45 games with the Pistons and Bobcats, Herrmann averaged 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds.More...

With second-year big man Jason Smith likely out for the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, an unsubstantiated report surfaced that the Sixers had reached out to former Sixers center/forward Theo Ratliff with an offer to play for the veterans' minimum, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:A source familiar with that situation said Ratliff had offers from other teams for more money, but that he was very interested in the Sixers. However, his desire to play and earn another opportunity (for more than league minimum) is his goal, and if he truly has other teams interested, he will have to weigh his options.

Walter Herrmann, F

Walter Herrmann decided to re-sign with the Pistons on Monday, according to the Associated Press. He is a player with tremendous work ethic and showed last year that he is a player that can contribute, Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said.

Our View:Herrmann played in only 28 games last season with averages of 3.0 points and 1.3 boards in 7.1 mi minutes a game. Give us a break, it's a slow news day in the NBA.

Second-round pick Walter Sharpe (32nd overall) has officially inked with the Pistons, according to MLive.com. The deal is for twp years, and worth slightly over $880,000.

Our View:Sharpe has strong upside, but is raw and needs time to develop and adapt to the NBA, meaning his fantasy value will be limited as a rookie.
