Rudy Gay is expected to be the Grizzlies starting power forward when the 2008-09 season opens, the Memphis Commercial-Appeal reports. The team had been shopping for a more traditional power forward this offseason.

Our View:Gay is going to be a solid fantasy player no matter where he lines up. However, we expected him to stick at small forward and allow Hakim Warrick to start. Now? We're not sure who will line up at small forward.

The Grizzlies and Heat are discussing trade options regarding the No. 2 and No. 5 picks. The Memphis club wants to move up in order to draft forward Michael Beasley, and the Heat could receive a point guard (Mike Conley or Kyle Lowry) in return, ESPN.com reports.

Our View:Consider this one of many rumors floating around as we head into Thursday's draft. If Beasley ended up in Memphis, though, he'd have a fairly open path to stardom. Rudy Gay is the Grizzlies' star, but Beasley could step into 15-18 points and 10 boards.

There are rumors that Texas A&M center DeAndre Jordan has a top-five commitment for the 2008 draft. Chad Ford of ESPN.com reports his sources have disputed those thoughts, but Jordan is apparently a lock for the top-10. The big man has workouts scheduled with the Grizzlies (5), Knicks (6), Bobcats (9), and Pacers (11).

Our View:Super athletic seven-footers rarely sink too far. Jordan is raw, and he averaged only 7.9 points and 6.0 rebounds as a freshman. He needs a lot of work, and while this kid isn't quite as big, we imagine Jordan might have a learned curve that resembles Andrew Bynum.
