Gary Matthews Jr. is not expected to be ready to play until at least a month into the 2009 season, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Matthews Jr. is continuing to recover from offseason knee surgery, but it's doubtful the Angels lineup will miss him much anyway after he batted just .242 last season.

Mark Teixeira, 1B

Angels general manager Tony Reagins said that despite other reports, Mark Teixeira remains the club's No. 1 priority this offseason, according to MLB.com.

Our View:There are numerous teams that have interest in Teixeira, who is reportedly looking for a 10-year deal.

Francisco Rodriguez, P

Francisco Rodriguez's agent says he believes K-Rod will sign after the winter meetings, according to the AP.

Our View:The Mets are believed to be the team that has the most interest in the closer. Coming off a record breaking season with 62 saves, he will receive a large contract.
