Brad Radke plans to formally announce his retirement at a press conference on Tuesday, according to the Star-Tribune. "It'll be a sad day because he's not going to be pitching for us anymore," manager Ron Gardenhire said Sunday. "And it's also going to be a great day because he's done so much for our organization. He started with us, and he never left us. That's something our organization is very, very proud of."

Manager Ron Gardenhire confirmed Wednesday that the Twins are trying to talk Brad Radke out of retirement, according to Sportsticker. "We've all said, (we hope he stays) one more year," Gardenhire said. "Brad has pretty much done what he had to do in the game, I think. And until he makes his official announcement in front of you guys, we still got options with him. We are still talking, but it doesn't look very good, let's put it that way." Radke went 12-9 with a 4.32 ERA in 28 starts in 2006.

Brad Radke said that he plans to take a couple of weeks before making an announcement regarding his retirement plans, according to the Pioneer Press. Radke has maintained for the last year that 2006 would be his final season, and his late-season injury problems would seem to confirm that. However, the delay suggests that there is at least a slim possibility that he will try to pitch again.

Brad Radke pitched four innings on Friday in the Twins' Game 3 loss to the A's. Radke has indicated several times this year that he will retire at the end of the season, which has now arrived. He won 148 games in his career and was the rare player to spend his entire career with the same team.

Brad Radke felt nothing but the usual soreness from pitching in a game the day after returning to action on Thursday, according to the Star-Tribune. "I feel better than I thought I would," he said. Radke, who has a torn labrum and stress fracture in his throwing shoulder, is on track to start Game 3 of next week's playoffs.
