Taylor Teagarden had two more hits on Sunday and he is batting .366 in 41 AB since being called up to the Rangers.

Our View:Besides the average, Teagarden has also hit six bombs while knocking in 17 runs, so the question is, why isn't he playing on a daily basis since it's not as if Gerald Laird has been tearing it up with a .252 average and just two home runs over his his last 39 games?

In Taylor Teagarden's last start, he hit a home run on the way to driving in five runs. That was four days ago. He is out of the starting lineup again on Friday.

Our View:In ten starts, Teagarden has blasted six home runs, scored 10 times, and accounted for 17 RBI. It is somewhat of a mystery as to why he is spending so much time on the bench in Texas.

Taylor Teagarden is some kind of hot, after hitting four home runs in his first seven starts of his career, he added his sixth home run which was his first career grand slam, on Monday night against the Tigers.

Our View:If you are looking to add a catcher for a late season push, Teagarden might be worth the risk.

Taylor Teagarden is en fuego. On Friday, he hit his fourth home run in seven starts since being called up at the beginning of the month. Despite it being his only hit of the night, and a solo shot at that, Rangers management has to be impressed with the youngster who sports a 1.000+ slugging percentage.

Our View:It's difficult to recommend picking Teagarden up as his playing time remains a question mark. But he has now started four games in a row and has 12 RBI in his seven September starts. If you're hurting at catcher, he might be worth a gamble. Fair warning though, a hot streak like this usually does not last very long.

Taylor Teagarden, appearing in just his third major league game, hit a three run home run off of Carlos Silva. Josh Hamilton also hit his 31st home run of the year in the loss to the Mariners.

Our View:With the as of yet undiagnosed injury to Jarrod Saltalamacchia (elbow), there is a chance that Teagarden could see a whole lot of work in the month of September, so keep an eye on how that injury situation shakes out.

Taylor Teagarden has been recalled by the Rangers on Monday, according to the Star Telegram. Teagarden hit only .211 with nine home runs and 22 RBI in 246 minor league at-bats.

Our View:Manager Ron Washington said that the team wants to see what Teagarden has, so he and Jarrod Saltalamacchia will likely split time behind the plate meaning that Gerald Laird's value will likely plummet to almost nil.

The Rangers are expected to recall either Taylor Teagarden or Max Ramirez when rosters expand in September, according to the Star-Telegram.

Our View:It remains to be seen which of their two top catching prospects they decide to promote. Neither will hold much fantasy value though, as manager Ron Washington stated that they won't significantly cut into the playing time of Gerald Laird.

The Red Sox have talked to the Rangers about acquiring Taylor Teagarden, according to ESPN's Peter Gammons. Teagarden has a homer in six at-bats with the Rangers this year and a .217-8-21 line over 230 at-bats between Double- and Triple-A.

Our View:Teagarden has had a hugely disappointing year at the plate, but he is coming off a year in which he hit .310 with 27 homers between Single- and Double-A. He would likely spend the rest of this year at Triple-A Pawtucket before taking over for Jason Varitek next season.

The Rangers optioned catcher Taylor Teagarden to Triple-A on Monday, the AP reports.

Our View:Teagarden was sent down a few days early so that he could be eligible for the Olympic team. He is a decent prospect, but the Rangers are stacked with catcher talent and he may need to switch locations to truly break into the majors down the road.
July 18, 2008
Taylor Teagarden has been called up to big leagues, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Our View:Teagarden is only with the Rangers temporarily as Jarrod Saltalamacchia recovers from an illness. Teagarden will be sent down to the minors so he will still be allowed to play for Team USA at the Olympics.
July 17, 2008
Rangers' prospect Taylor Teagarden (at Triple-A Oklahoma) has made the Team USA baseball team, according to the Star-Telegram. Team USA manager Davey Johnson said, "I’ve been looking at Teagarden for a while and he was high on our list. He’s a guy that can shut down the running game. I really liked what we saw defensively and that’s a big part of winning a game."

Our View:Johnson was particularly impressed when Teagarden threw out his second runner in Sunday’s Futures Game at Yankee Stadium. Teagarden blocked a 3-2 breaking ball, scooped it out of the dirt and threw a dart to get Ivan DeJesus in the sixth inning.
