September 6, 2008 Our View:Reineke threw just 18 innings this season while compiling a 5.00 ERA. He should be ready to go for 2009 and compete for a spot in the Padres rotation. |

September 4, 2008 Chad Reineke had an MRI on his shoulder, and though the results are not back yet, there is a growing suspicion that he might miss the rest of the season, according to Our View:Reineke is 2-1 with a 5.00 ERA in four starts with the Padres this season. There is no timetable available until the results of the test are back, but it would be wise not to count on any further contributions from Reineke this season. |

August 17, 2008 Chad Reineke picked up a win in his major league debut on Saturday night. The 26-year-old right-hander allowed five hits and three runs over five innings against the Phillies. Reineke walked three, struck out five, and went 1-for-2 with the bat. Our View:We had very low expectations for Reineke, as he wasn't especially sparkling at Triple-A this year. At best, he is worth a flier in NL-only leagues. |

August 15, 2008 Chad Reineke is likely to be recalled from Triple-A Portland to cover Chris Young's spot in the rotation, according to the Our View:The former Astros' hurler is 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA with Portland. Reineke could rack up solid strikeout totals and will be helped out by playing his home games at pitcher-friendly PETCO Park. He would be worth a look in deeper NL-only leagues if he lands in the Padres' rotation. |

July 22, 2008 Triple-A pitcher Chad Reineke has been traded from the Astros to the Padres in exchange for starter Randy Wolf, according to the Our View:The 26-year-old Reineke is 5-9 with a 4.41 ERA over 112 innings in the minors this season, but has fired 100 strikeouts. He has yet to pitch in a major league game, and isn't likely to make an impact if called up to the Padres this season. |
