The Rockies have told people close to Manuel Corpas that he is the team's closer for next season, according to the Denver Post. Corpas had a rough beginning and end to the 2008 season but pitched very well in between.

Our View:This news would lead you to believe that the Rockies may be planning on flipping Huston Street to another team. However, they could also just keep him around as insurance.

Manuel Corpas has been pitching great after his initial struggles, and has an ERA of 1.50 since July 19, covering 30 innings, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View:Corpas remains a set-up man, and he also does not have big strikeout totals, so his fantasy value is not high.

The Rockies report relief pitcher Manuel Corpas is finding continued struggles as he attempts to seek the form that made him a hot arm for the Rockies on their way to the World Series last season, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Corpas had entered Friday's game against the Cubs having not allowed a single earned run over 10 games, and when he reached the eighth inning of the battle against Chicago, he had not surrendered a single run. Suddenly, up 8-0 at one time, Corpas allowed a two-run double to Jim Edmonds and then surrendered a two-run homer to Mark DeRosa, that dinger giving the Cubs the 10-9 win in one of the more memorable collapses in recent major league history. Corpas lost his job as the Rockies' closer earlier this season to Brian Fuentes, having surrendered runs in nine of the 16 appearances he had made at that time. It then appeared Corpas was working back into form, but the failures against the Cubbies have all but ruined those efforts as Corpas now sits a commodity in question once again.

Manuel Corpas worked a scoreless inning on Tuesday night, allowing one hit. The former closer has served up only one unearned run and four hits over his last seven appearances (6.2 innings). Manager Clint Hurdle praised him on Tuesday, the Denver Post reports.

Our View:It's too early to talk about Corpas regaining his role, but Brian Fuentes hasn't exactly been lights-out this month.

Manuel Corpas will remain with the Rockies though the possibility of sending him to the minors is still possible, according to MLB.com. "It's still the inconsistency of repeating his delivery and maintaining a consistent arm slot," Hurdle said. "But he had two solid outings before that, so I think that's going to keep him in play. I'm confident we'll find a way to keep him moving forward."

Our View:Corpas has been scored on in 10 of his last 18 outing with 27 hits allowed in his last 19.2 innings as he seems pretty lost on the hill. Brian Funetes owners can feel confident in their man.
