Our View:Garza really hurt himself by allowing Philadelphia to take him deep three times, including back-to-back jacks by Chase Utley and Ryan Howard in the sixth inning. |

October 19, 2008 Matt Garza pitched an excellent seven innings in Game 7 of the ALCS as the Rays defeated the Red Sox 3-1 to advance to the World Series. He struck out nine batters while allowing just two hits, including a first inning solo home run to Dustin Pedroia in the first inning. After the game, he was named the ALCS MVP. Our View:Garza allowed just two runs in his two wins against Boston. Garza had a 3.70 ERA and a 11-9 record in his first season with Tampa Bay. |
