Young hurlers Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto will not be going anywhere, as they will not be traded, said Reds general manager Walt Jocketty, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:The two are likely to be brought up in any trade discussions with the Reds, but you simply can't trade young pitching anymore. Jocketty likely learned his lesson after his horrific trade of Dan Haren and Daric Barton for Mark Mulder in St. Louis.

The Reds got good news on Saturday about Edinson Volquez's knee. An MRI showed that Volquez is suffering from tendinitis, according to the Reds' official web site.

Our View:What a year for Volquez who burst onto the scene with 17 wins and 206 strike outs in 196 innings. Volquez will be one of the top 10 pitchers taken in drafts in 2009.
September 24, 2008
Edinson Volquez will be scratched from his final start of the season to rest his right knee according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Adam Pettyjohn will start in his place.

Our View:Volquez finishes 17-6 with a 3.21 ERA. He currently ranks second in the NL with 206 strikeouts and had one of the biggest breakouts of anyone in 2008.
September 23, 2008
Edinson Volquez got win No. 17 Tuesday, limiting the Astros to just one run on six hits and a walk while striking out nine over 7 1/3 innings.

Our View:A 3.21 ERA, 17 wins and 208 strikeouts. Not bad for a late-round flyer, eh?
September 18, 2008
Edinson Volquez only allowed four runs on three hits in seven innings but took the loss in the Reds' 5-4 defeat.

Our View:Thursday's loss was the first for Volquez in eight starts. If he was on a better team Volquez might be getting some more pub for the NL Cy Young. Fantasy owners who selected Volquez found a diamond in the rough.
