Earlier reports said that Jesus Flores wasn't sure if he was done for the season but on Wednesday the Nationals shut him down until 2009, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Flores filled in nicely for Paul Lo Duca before injuring his ankle. His eight home runs and 59 RBI in 301 at-bats made him a strong catching option in NL-only play.

Jesus Flores, who is out with an ankle injury, said Tuesday he wasn't sure if his season was over, according to the AP. However, manager Manny Acta said it was likely Flores has played his last inning.

Our View:It's been a solid season for the 23-year-old, as he hit a respectable .256 with eight homers and 59 RBI.

Catcher Jesus Flores underwent an MRI on his left ankle on Monday, and he may miss the rest of this season, MLB.com reports. He suffered the injury on September 2.

Our View:This news can't dampen what was a mild breakout year for Flores. He was supposed to spend the season behind Paul Lo Duca and Johnny Estrada but ended up playing a major role. Flores turns 24 in October and will likely enter 2009 as a low-end No. 2 fantasy backstop.

The Nationals' team website reports Flores felt good on Saturday after testing his injured ankle on Friday. The Nationals hope to have him back in the last week of the season.

Our View:Keep him stashed on your bench if you still have space, as he could help in the final week.

MLB.com reports that Jesus Flores has now missed eight straight games with an injured ankle and could miss several more. "It's painful," said Flores, who has missed the past eight games. "It's still sore, so we have to take care of it."

Our View:Flores remains the Nats' best option at catcher and it's a good sign that he still hopes to make it back by the end of the season.
