September 24, 2008
Nelson Cruz hit his fifth home run of the month on Wednesday against the A's. He finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. He now has 23 RBI in 28 games. The 28-year-old is hitting .320, slugging .583 and holding a .417 OBP since being called up in August.

Our View:As we noted last week, Cruz was the Pacific Coast League MVP this season due to his prolific power. He hit 37 homers in 103 games before being called up by Texas on Aug. 25. He is probably worth picking up if you are looking for an option in the outfield down the stretch. Keep an eye on him in 2009's Spring Training as he will battle for a starting spot for an explosive offense.

September 14, 2008
Nelson Cruz had three hits and four RBI on Sunday and is now hitting .328 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 19 games with the Rangers.

Our View:Cruz powered 37 long balls in the minors this season, but he had just about earned the dreaded AAAA collar meaning too good for the minors and not good enough for the majors. No youngster at 28 years of age, Cruz just might be playing himself into the Rangers plans for 2009.
September 13, 2008
Nelson Cruz went 1-for-3 and generated the lone RBI for the Rangers in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Athletics. His hit was a double.

Our View:Cruz has registered an RBI in three of his last four games, with one homer over the span. Cruz looks to remain productive over the final weeks of the season.
September 6, 2008
Nelson Cruz hit two home runs against the Red Sox on Saturday. He scored three times and had five RBI. He had one home run entering the contest.

Our View:Cruz was the Pacific Coast League MVP, hitting 37 homers in 103 games before being called up by Texas on Aug. 25. He has three homers in 12 games since. His homers were measured at 444 and 417 feet. He could be a good source of power off of the waiver wire.
