October 27, 2008 Reds beat writer Mark Sheldon believes that Homer Bailey is "in the mix" for the fifth starters role with the Reds in 2009, according to the Our View:Bailey, who has one of the best names in baseball, has been beaten around continually as a Reds starter with a 6.72 ERA and a 1.80 WHIP over 17 starts the past two years. The teams 2004 first round pick, Bailey must learn to use his off-speed stuff more effectively if he is ever to reach the heights once predicted for him. |

August 1, 2008 Homer Bailey allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk as he was only able to record six outings on Friday night in his fifth loss of the season. Our View:Bailey simply cannot put it together at this level, and whispers of him being a potential AAAA player are growing (too good for minors, not good enough for the majors). Still, he is only 22 years old, so he has plenty of time to figure things out. |
