Mike Morse is an option for left field in the event the Mariners don’t bring back free agent Raul Ibanez, according to MLB.com.

October 31, 2008
The Mariners activated Mike Morse from the 60-day DL, according to the Associated Press. He underwent reconstructive shoulder surgery in April.

October 22, 2008
MLB.com reports that Mike Morse has fully recovered from a serious left shoulder injury that cost him virtually the entire 2008 season, and he's looking ahead to the next camp. Last spring, he hit a club-record .492 with three home runs, nine doubles and 15 RBIs in 25 games.

Our View:The 26-year-old went through the White Sox organization as a shortstop, but has played third base, first base, left and right field for the Mariners since they acquired him in the Freddy Garcia deal four years ago. He will likely play first base if he sticks with the team out of Spring Training next season.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports Morse, returning from shoulder surgery, will take swings and workout at DH and first base in the Mariners' instructional league.

Our View:He should be able to compete for a job next spring.
April 23, 2008
