The Pittsburgh Pirates and first baseman Adam LaRoche are working on a new contract, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "As we pencil our club forward. Adam is the guy we pencil in there," said Pittsburgh GM Neal Huntington.

Our View:LaRoche hit .270 with 25 home runs and 85 RBI this season. His OBP was .341 and he struck out 122 times in 492 at-bats. He will once again be a useful player for fantasy owners, though far from an upper-echelon option.

Adam LaRoche hit his 25th home run of the season on Sunday as the Pirates won in San Diego 6-1. He was 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Our View:LaRoche, as typical, struck again in the second half of the season. Before the All-Star break he hit .251 with 11 home runs. In the 48 games since then, he hit .301 with 13 round-trippers.

Adam LaRoche is dealing with a tight left hamstring, but he may return to action as early as tonight, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:LaRoche admitted that the injury has bothered him off and on for around two years. LaRoche has been hitting well as of late with four homers over his last six games.

Adam LaRoche's sore hamstring is better, but he will get Tuesday's game off, anyway, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "Hopefully, he'll be able to finish the season," manager John Russell said. "The extra day off should really help."

Our View:LaRoche has been red hot lately, so owners are hoping to get him back as soon as possible.

Adam LaRoche is day to day due to hamstring tightness, according to the Pirates Official Website. "His hamstring started getting tight [Saturday]," Pirates manager John Russe'l said. "And it just continued to get tight. We'll see how he is Tuesday."

Our View:This comes at a terrible time for LaRoche owners as he has been on fire in September hitting .350 with five home runs and 22 RBI in the month, the RBI total being the third highest mark in the majors (Ryan Howard has 27, Manny Ramirez has 24).
