Newsbreakers
July 20, 2008
The offense was the name of the game for Colorado, getting the 11-3 win over the Pirates, but give ace Aaron Cook full credit, going seven innings to allow three runs over five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Our View:Cook is 12-6 on the season with an ERA of 3.58, though today represents just his second win over his last six starts.
July 11, 2008
Aaron Cook rebounded from his roughest outing of the season by giving up just one run in six innings on Friday in New York. He did not factor in the decision.

Our View:Nothing spectacular from Cook, except that he knows how to pitch himself out of jams.
July 6, 2008
Aaron Cook was roughed up the same day he was announced as an NL All-Star. In 7.1 innings against the Marlins he gave up seven earned runs, 11 hits and two walks.

Our View:Cook was certianly not an All-Star on Sunday. He had been 6-0 in day games up to this point. No one expected this type of season from Cook and its not out of the question to doubt his second half success.
July 6, 2008
The NL pitching staff for the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium has been announced, according to the Boston Globe. The hurlers representing the NL will be Tim Lincecum (Giants), Aaron Cook (Colorado), Dan Haren (Diamondbacks), Ben Sheets (Brewers), Carlos Zambrano (Cubs), Brandon Webb (Diamondbacks), Ryan Dempster (Cubs), Brian Wilson (Giants), Edinson Volquez (Reds), Kerry Wood (Cubs), Brad Lidge (Phillies), and Billy Wagner (Mets).

Our View:The team will be managed by Clint Hurdle of the Rockies.
July 1, 2008
The Padres couldn't get any sign of offense going tonight against the Rockies, giving Colorado the 4-0 victory built on the arm of rising RHP Aaron Cook . Cook pitched a complete game, allowing no runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Our View:Cook picks up his first win after consecutive losses to end June. This is his second complete game this season and he has failed to reach at least the end of the seventh inning just six times through 18 starts this season.
