Newsbreakers
September 4, 2008
Nate McLouth continued his big season today, hitting his 24th home run in the Pirates loss to the Reds.

Our View:This was only McLouth's second home run in 27 games but he is still a good option for a good third or fourth outfielder.
August 29, 2008
Nate McLouth went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and registered the Pirates' lone RBI in Friday's 3-1 loss to Milwaukee. His other hit was a single.

Our View:That marked his first homer of August, snapping a 22-game drought. He has 23 for the season.
August 27, 2008
Nate McLouth could be moved from center field to left field in upcoming seasons, if Pirates prospect Andrew McCutchen makes it to the big league club, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:McLouth does not have a single error this season, but he does not have the best range, and McCutchen is supposedly a superior defensive player. This should not affect fantasy owners, though, as most leagues are not position-specific.
August 24, 2008
Nate McLouth has missed four games with an illness, but he should be returning to the Pirates lineup no later than Tuesday, according to Pirates.com.

Our View:McLouth has provided fantasy owners with surprising power, as evidenced by his 22 home runs and .506 slugging percentage. Fortunately, he also has speed, with 14 stolen bases.
August 23, 2008
Nate McLouth sat out again Saturday. He hasn't played since Monday due to a stomach virus, according to MLB.com. He had a mononucleosis test that came back negative and is awaiting results on blood work. "He's feeling better; last night, he kind of turned the corner," said manager John Russell. "The consensus, without getting the test results back, is he's on the back side of this."

Our View:It sounds like owners should get Nate back for the upcoming week, but he's unlikely to play Sunday.
