If you think drivers don't take practice seriously, consider the case of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Mike Skinner. Both were struggling to find speed until they found one another on the track. Something annoyed Junior and he dogged Skinner for several laps before finally making the pass—and one wrong move by either driver would have sent them both into the wall—but they have to find the ragged edge of control in traffic because it only gets more intense once the green flag drops on the race.Senior Editor
