There is a litany of stats that fantasy players typically pore over in advance of their draft: goals, assists, and plus/minus, for example. Vast, elaborate strategies and statistical models are employed by the committed poolie with an eye to capturing this year's biggest blue chip scorer, hottest young rookie or late-round sleeper. What often gets lost in the counting numbers on draft day is penalties in minutes (PIM), despite the fact that a lot more fantasy leagues, from points based to rotisserie to head-to-head, are starting to include them as a scoring category.
