Brady Quinn broke his index finger about 10 days ago. I reported last week that he should be OK to play with the injury. He played the first half against Houston before being yanked in favor of Derek Anderson. Now there is some more specific information regarding the fracture. There is a report that the fracture is associated with a tendon injury, as well. There are two injuries associated with broken distal phalangeals (end of finger) and tendons. One is known as a "bony" Mallet finger. This is a very common injury which involves the extensor tendon. This is on the "back" of the finger. Normally, this injury occurs without a break. Even with a break, the treatment is normally bracing the finger for six weeks. If this is Quinn's injury, he should be able to play, but maybe with some difficulty and pain.Associate Editor
