With the sun having fallen on a scenic autumn night in Homestead, Carl Edwards gingerly accelerated as his No.99 was running low on fuel with only a handful of laps left. The story arc should invariably build at this particular moment. Only on this day, this last Sunday of the Sprint Cup season, the Third Act would fizzle and Edwards would coast to his ninth win of the season yet still fall 69 points short of winning his first Cup championship.
